Sk - not necessarily so - I have thought about doing retail bonds to fund property development - they are expensive but the advantage is you can get away with murder So it's possible that Bur could go into run off mode and equity would get paid out first from proceeds with the finally concluded cases paying the bonds - which would mean highly likely that the bonds would take a massive capital loss Now - I've not even glanced at Burs bond documentation - so that's all just supposition

I'm very pleased that I sold half when management did In retrospect I shouldn't have been so dismissive of recent market movements unless management had actually bought back into the stock

You really need to understand the covenants (or likely like of) in the bonds before investing and the repayment provisions

From Hardman's report (titled: Results don't need to be appealed):

"Having followed this company for some time, this analyst notes that Burford has remained consistent on many of these points, such as the market it is listed on and the composition of the board. It has also been clear, and consistent, on its accounting approach, even if the rules prevent it being as simple as we might like. There is no perfect company, but if these areas are the worst the bears can come up with on Burford, then the company is doing pretty well!"
