AOS - I am concerned that we have seen falling highs since 6/9/2004 which has produced a resistance line tested now on five occasions. This line is presently at 668 and must be breached for the short term downtrend to be reversed. It is essential that 648/650 acts as a support for if this fails then 600 is sadly beckoning. I shall be keeping a close watch, but if 645 is penetrated then I shall be tempted to go short.

Churchtower - Many thanks for the well-wishes. Only a matter of time before they start selling bull-whips etc. Then, watch the shares rise ;) On a more serious note, we seem to be extremely range-bound today. Any ideas?

when IC says BUY they actually mean SELL and vice versa ( thats my view)

I understand there was an article in Moneyweek recently recommending this as a 'short' with a target price of 525 to March 2006. Unfortunately I do not have the article but I believe it based the recommendation on anticipated weak Christmas sales and a subsequent profits warning. May be worth getting hold of the article if anyone proposes buying or holding. CH.

I am happy to make short term gains on spread betting it-might be that post christmas after sales etc they look better (or worse!!)

i think so too, most other shares looking too topy now for me to go long, but this could be good if the overall amrket holds up.
btw - i finf IC quite good normally

No, seriously, this is one to trade for the time being in my opinion, long if support holds around £6.50.

Jedi ... I feel this is very toppy here. But they are buying 300K of their own shares for cancellation and this keeps the price up.

Of course as Bush won and we've had a rally, I'd want to see the markets themselves topping , I dont expect we have yet.

Ex Div tomorrow Wednesday, and if Bush fails to win, the markets will also fall.

This is behaving as defiant as BDEV once did, took ages for the city to wake up and smell the coffee, Friday and Monday will be deciding factors.
