The sale of which would not bode well, L & G have a duty to there clients to dump any blue chip that is about to get into trouble, i would not be surprised to see there holding reduced.

As far as a bid not this side of xmas, retailers are all itchy about current slowdown in high street spending, any would be bidder will want to see how the xmas period pans out, which i believe will be total and utter pants this year.

Boots valued at £5 bn - to drop from FTSE would need to be down at £1.9 bn roughly.....so not very likely in the near future....

Boots is currently is the 46 biggest company in the UK, according to the Busniness Section in the Observer, priced at about £4bn so why should it be removed from the FTSE. I feel that they are still on course to turn themselves around, but have just had a small slip up.
