Churchtower - Oh well, looks like I shall sit tight for a wee while longer. Best regards and happy investing ;)

AOS - Left many years ago, now well south of you - which is sadly for you the way that Boots is going. If 640 fails then there is, in charting terms, a fall to 600 on the cards. Regards CH.

one heavingly busy boots store does not an entire company make.

Small part of a very big picture.

Churchtower - my two girls went to Clifton Hall School and then on to St. George's School for girls. Have you stayed north of the border or have you ventured further afield?

Churchtower - Talking about falling knives, I think I have more holes in my hands than the 'dear lord'. On a more serious note though, I think that all retailers have been hit of late, firstly by, M&S, Sainsburys and today by Dixons, forecasting a slowdown in sales. I suspect this to be a short-term blip and as I said last week, when the wife dragged me shopping my the ear, our local Boots up here in Livingston (outside Edinburgh) was absolutely heaving. Level 2 is also looking better than earlier. Happy investing :)

Churchtower - I have calculated my breakeven point at 647.25p Therefore, if I see anything above 650 today, then I shall grab the money and run. He who cashes in and runs away has funds to invest another day! Happy investing to you ;)

AOS - Good luck to you - braver man than me. I would only suggest that if you can take it up to about 665 I would then be inclined to close out your position. I somehow doubt that it will get that far, but have been wrong on too many occasions to speak with any authority.

Churchtower - I took my Xmas bonus last week, courtesy of a share price dip followed by an almost immediate recovery. I have decided to get back in again at 643.42. I am hoping that the 10p drop is the last and that we will see an upswing this afternoon once Wall Street opens, which seems forecast after yesterday's sell-off. I think also that the news of the US retailers Sears, Kmart merger may have some upwards effect on retailers. I might be wrong, but 'fingers crossed'. Happy investing to you ;)

FTSE up 20 - BOOTS down 10. Draw your own conclusion.

Just got an email, looks like dixons are reporting that customers are rather shy this year, as in there not turning up.

High street footfall is not what it should be and retailers make most of there profit around this time of year.

Gone short, may be slightly premature but have got the March expiry so happy to sit and watch the inevitable decline.

There she goes. If it fails to rally and hold above 650 then I will go short.
