Good morning GN and posters.

At least some very good reminders of the strength here have come out over the week or so.
In a way the shake up did us a favour!

stoaty1 and homebrewruss....
So we have said the same thing????

and stoaty1 - good luck with your holding. This one can go either way and the chance of success is still a fair way off imo.

good morning....lets hope bids can make up for the turmoil in the rest of the market in the next months, (the cost of my refurbishment project is in euros, the funds for it are sterling)

I imagine Angel333 that the tech and people are easily worth £300k to Bids. Financially not a strong company to say the least, but had the tech and expertise Bids wanted/needed.
I am a holder of a fair few Bids, and intend to sell none of my holding. But the markets are looking a bit ugly and this is bound to have some effect . However, at any time a big deal could be announced, and add the fact that there is a realistic chance that Bids could become a big player, i will stay with my holding and ignore the noise.

Angel, agreed it may be a limited market and you could argue right place and time for pubguard but lukehold has hit the nail on the head.

It could cost 300k and more in development costs to get ad verification tech built and tested/approved by clients and those are skills they didn't necessarily have in house already plus they have been able to fast track the whole process.

Pubguard were not worth £300k unless the buyer sees something of value.
I think it is likely that Bids saw value so happy to deal at that level.
BUT, any business losing the amount they are numbers they are losing with just £28k on the balance sheet and minimal cash could be deemed valueless also.

Does seem cheap, but have yet to check the accounts. Moving staff into bidstacks offices will start to reduce overheads. Also If it saves 6 months of internal development, moving deals forward and help win anything from the likes of EA it will look like very savy business indeed.

What?
At 300k to buy the business? The pubguard team must be pretty confident that their shares will be worth multiples to sell at that price.
How many other tech businesses (or any business) can you buy for 300k?

Good business all round imv.

Feels like a top, using highly valued stock to buy loss making businesses..

Let's see.

Pubguard not purchased as a revenue stream.
Clearly purchased to offer governance and surveillance on there traffic.
This service is an absolute must and I am sure would/was required by the more sizeable firms prior to any detailed further discussion.

I mean PUBGUARD could be an important separate revenue stream.

Depends how focused BIDS would like to be with it.

Pubguard:
Becky Pinkard seemed suitably impressed by them (prior to their acquisition) and seems to know what she's talking about from her twitter profile (2016 security champion of the year):

Also an article here about pubguard from back in June:

'The best “long shot” of the competition so far? Bidstack, an Aim-listed gaming advertising company picked by FT reader Alec from Southampton, has seen its shares rise by 616 per cent since the start of the year. Katie Cousins, analyst at Shore Capital, attributed Bidstack’s meteoric ascent to its “impressive technology” and brokering a deal with video game company Codemaster."

I kept preparing for a recession and a stock market drop but kept being tempted back and I'm glad I did!
I think the bull market is over really now, but intend to keep the best of my shares and inevitably have a few laggards that I keep to remind myself!

Good to see a similar strategy being deployed there Stevo. Sounds sensible and has payed off so far! There was excellent value in US in 2016. Apple at $100...

Struggling to find similar quality value opportunities at present. Fundamentals are pointing towards a stock market melt up given the relativity of prices vs bonds but I imagine Inflation may rear its head at some point which could be the spanner in the works.

Anyway, back to BIDS!

Similar to myself Moneygen. I got out of most of my London listed stocks a couple of years ago. I kept a few high dollar earning, dividend stocks and bought into HGM last year. Since then I've mainly concentrated on the US market. Bidstack was brought to my attention by a friend early this year. I researched it and bought. I'm not easily tempted into small caps but, it did and does look good. The more research I do, the more comfortable I am with this holding.

Exactly Scottman. He must be either someone with no experience of real business or someone that just wants a quick fix.

It takes us 6 months to even consider thinking about things. The sorry state of large bureaucratic organisations sadly.

I have filtered that particular doom merchant for years. Negative Non researched rubbish IMO.
I’m long and strong in BIDS. Good posts from hazl and moneygen thanks.
