Utilisoft Launches into Gas Trading 19 Jul 2010

Utilisoft today announces the launch of IGNITE, its first software solution for the UK Gas Trading Market. IGNITE is a Gas Trading, Scheduling and Nominations solution which allows Gas Traders and Shippers to manage key before-the-day, on-the-day, or after-the-day processes in accordance with the Network Codes that govern operations.

IGNITE provides Gas Traders and Shippers with the capabilities to:
■Capture NBP trades from external systems,
■Dispatch aggregated trade positions as Nominations,
■Dispatch information to ETRM systems, and
■Perform trade validation and matching.

Failure to manage these processes properly results in financial penalties from the Network Operators, and potential commercial loss to counterparties with whom the Shippers conduct business in trading activities.

John Furness, Managing Director, commented, "Utilisoft's first step into the Gas trading market is a significant milestone for the company. We are now able to offer full duel fuel capability to the UK energy trading sector.

IGNITE provides a set of scalable components available to both existing Gas market participants and to smaller entrants to the market with aims to grow their presence. In addition, the long term product roadmap for IGNITE provides enhanced functionality covering a variety of new features."

An additional Utilisoft Gas Trading module, TradeBlotter, is soon to be launched which can be used for manual trade creation where ETRM systems are not adopted by clients.

Utilisoft's IGNITE project is led by Julian Coplestone, who joined the companyin 2008. Julian has years of experience in the gas trading market, previously working for businesses such as BP and RWE.

5070481 - you may be right. But losing less money was already priced in. They did not achieve profitability - and yet what happens - 30% price hike. But there is one certainty - as PIs we will be last to know the news.

BT and partners propose secure long range radio for national smart meter rollout

BT Centre
BT today announced it is joining forces with Arqiva and Detica to offer a dedicated and secure long range radio communications solution for the Government's proposed smart metering initiative. Due to cover 28 million homes and small business properties by 2020 or sooner, this multi billion pound initiative is designed to reduce energy costs and lower Great Britain's carbon dioxide emissions by 2.6 million tonnes per year when the rollout is complete. Long range radio has already proved successful in North America and offers substantial benefits in Great Britain.

why do people think this is anything other than the fact that they announced good result. A return to profitability was a very significant step.

This is more than an IC tip now. I wonder if one of their major partners could be looking at acquiring them. Is anyone going on to Alphaville in case it comes up there? My full time job will prevent that.

The IC reiterated their buy tip in today's issue, concluding:

'With revenues set to double again this year, and the shares trading on a modest forward PE ratio of nine, the investment case remains as compelling as ever. So, although Bglobal shares have drifted down since our buy tip (52p, 8 Jan 2010), we reiterate that advice. Buy.'

Anyone got this piece

From the results :

"We have secured sizable orders for the current financial year.
It is now essential to focus on the fulfilment of these orders and on following through with long-term data management services."

"It is vital to work in closer partnership with our customers to ensure an orderly and planned delivery of installations. Amongst the key challenges is how the Group sensibly builds its capability to match confirmed orders and how it recruits, trains and mobilises an extensive field force in balance with this demand without over or under resourcing. This challenge of gearing capability to demand should not be underestimated, nor should risks posed by short term events on logistics such as prolonged poor weather which can affect operations."

"Partnerships were developed with several third parties to install meters on our behalf. Whilst these third parties have been slower than expected to deliver both trained staff and meet with expected performance levels, the Group has benefited through greater flexibility in its field operations and continues to grow this capability."

This is a very fine line that they have to walk to keep the customer at the forefront and to keep expenses at a reasonable level.

I stumbled across this which for me shed a different light upon their 3rd party problems . Truread who was bought out by Gazprom very recently also uses 3rd party companies such as G4S (notice Vital as well) for installation etc.. So there appears to be plenty of competition for the installers .

Lets not forget about BG sucking up a couple of thousand highly skilled people as well .And what about all of the other companies gearing up for the big push on installations ?

Substp - thanks for keeping us updated - very helpful. I like this bit on your link:

Barnes said."We've been profitable in the first quarter [of fiscal 2011] and we're confident this will continue through this year."

"Aside from governmental issues, Barnes said he is confident of increasing orders and said Bglobal received 20 smart meter contracts directly with business customers, as opposed to them going through their energy provider, in the first quarter of fiscal 2011 alone. In fiscal 2010, it received 45 in total."

"We're in talks on a lot of new deals and contracts--some are quite sizeable--and we hope to report on these soon," Barnes said."These are sizeable business names with some thousands of sites across the U.K."
