BGLOBAL PLC
("Bglobal" or "the Company" or "the Group")
BGLOBAL WELCOMES COALITION AGREEMENT ON THE ENVIRONMENT

Bglobal plc (AIM: BGBL), the leading UK smart metering and energy data company, welcomes the agreement between the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats to implement a full programme of measures to create a low carbon and eco-friendly economy.

The decision of the Coalition Government to support the roll-out of smart meters and the establishment of feed-in tariff systems underpinning micro-generation activity in electricity market shows that the new
Government has recognised the important foundation role that smart meters will play in the future.

Bglobal is committed to building an end-to-end smart energy data services business, deploying smart meters in both business and residential markets and developing products and services which help people to reduce their carbon footprint, cut their energy bills and get smart about energy consumption.

Tony Barnes, Chief Executive of Bglobal said: "These are a constructive set of proposals which form a good basis for the creation of a detailed roadmap leading towards the creation of the low carbon economy that we believe Britain needs. In turn, we believe that this will drive a more rapid roll-out of smart meters across all sectors of the UK.

"Bglobal was the first company to come to market with a smart metering service for domestic microgeneration customers who want their energy suppliers to accurately measure power import and microgenerated export and bill them accurately in this activity. This service supports the feed in tariffs of the
future which will undoubtedly become an important part of UK power generation.

"Additionally having recently launched the innovative Smart1 meter in response to the continued opening of SME and residential smart metering sectors, the Company is well positioned to play its part in the creation of a low carbon economy and development of the national Smart Grid, as the new Government's
strategy continues to unfold."

In the Conservative-Liberal coalition agreement document released yesterday, the roll out of smart meters is the first item on their list of priorities for the environment. I have pasted the first two points from the environment section below. The full document can be found here -

11. Environment

The parties agree to implement a full programme of measures to fulfil our joint ambitions for a low carbon and eco-friendly economy, including:

•The establishment of a smart grid and the roll-out of smart meters.

•The full establishment of feed-in tariff systems in electricity - as well as the maintenance of banded ROCs.

ETC ETC

I wonder if the Company will comment on this.

Melody , the only comment I've made about the director is that he might have been tired of watching the share price dump .

All of the rest of this is just background noise that gives one an idea of the positions and support everyone has .

"Are they re-selling BGBL products in Far East?"
Wouldn't it be nice but I have no idea what kind of deal has been done with EDMI.

substp - sorry if I am missing the point as skimming through. Are you suggesting the Director sell was to satisfy a requirement from SMB? Are they re-selling BGBL products in Far East?

Are EDMI and Bglobal sharing the Smart1 ? Will we receive royalties when the EDMI Smart1 is sold to others or vice versa ?

Maybe he was sick and tired of watching the share price dumping . It was @ 42.5p when he crossed the 8% mark on April the 19th .

It does appear that the company likes to play with when they release their RNSs.

They now have the tools . Contracts with the big boys in all areas next ?

Disappointing Director sell. Why would you sell so much of your holding if this company is doing as well as seems. And the transaction was completed some 3 weeks so why the delay in the RNS? Of course there could still be a valid reason for the sell.

So I have sold most of my holding and retained a minor stake to keep a watching brief on developments.

"The design of the meter offers unprecedented flexibility and significantly de-risks aspects of the UK residential roll out which is likely to be delaying the decision by some utility suppliers to commence early rollout of meters to homes and small businesses across the UK. By properly separating the communications and metering components and a using wireless interface (patent pending), a world first for metering, it is possible to roll out a fully compliant smart-ready Smart1 meter without a communications module today (Smart Ready) and return to it in months or years and make it Smart-Now for a fraction of the cost that the utilities who are currently rolling out fully-smart products have to bare at the moment."

Smart Ready or Smart Now is ready for distribution now !

"We have built a data-centric smart metering architecture that not only delivers electricity metering, but also supports Dual Fuel and Gas only installs."

Great Stuff !

Looks like a press release will come out tomorrow: they have an announcement on their website already.

This appears to be part of a formal launch of the Smart1 as a follow up to the recent regulatory approval received.

Smart1: Ready Now For Residential Metering
28th April 2010, Bglobal plc (AIM:BGBL), the leading UK smart metering and energy data company is delighted to announce that its new Smart1 meter is ready for mass residential market roll out across the UK from today.

The Smart1 offers both COP10 compliance for the UK business market and MID approval for roll out across the UK and all EU countries. Deploy Smart-Ready or Smart-Now, it's your choice.

The Smart1 is a full-specification, modular, communications agnostic, ZigBee-enabled single-phase electricity meter designed specifically to service the needs of energy suppliers and distribution networks serving the SME and residential metering markets across Europe.

The Smart1's revolutionary design delivers future-proofing against communications change-risk (whether regulatory or technologically driven) as well as compelling cost-saving advantages in the installation process.

Bglobal announced earlier this month that it had received Measuring Instruments Directive ("MID") and UK specific regulatory approval for the Smart1.The MID (2004/22/EC) is a directive by the European Union (EU) which creates a common market for measuring instruments across the 27 countries of the EU. Meters which receive MID approval may be used in all countries across the EU. Further, the use and performance of Electricity Meters in the UK is governed by Schedule 7 of the Electricity Act, 1989 and supporting legislation. The Smart1 has gained approval for all the requirements referenced by this legislation.

The Smart1 has been designed by Bglobal's Research and Development team located in Lancashire, UK and Brisbane, Australia, and leverages Bglobal's deep understanding of the needs of UK energy supply customers and end-users alike. Bglobal's partners in South East Asia are producing the communications and modem modules whilst Singapore-based EDMI, a long time partner of Bglobal, will produce the meter component exclusively for Bglobal, leveraging their extensive experience in making high-performance smart meters for global markets.

Chief Executive Officer, Tony Barnes, said: "The design of the meter offers unprecedented flexibility and significantly de-risks aspects of the UK residential roll out which is likely to be delaying the decision by some utility suppliers to commence early rollout of meters to homes and small businesses across the UK. By properly separating the communications and metering components and a using wireless interface (patent pending), a world first for metering, it is possible to roll out a fully compliant smart-ready Smart1 meter without a communications module today (Smart Ready) and return to it in months or years and make it Smart-Now for a fraction of the cost that the utilities who are currently rolling out fully-smart products have to bare at the moment.

"The Smart1 marks a revolution in metering, and one in which utilities can participate today. Utility companies which want to forge ahead with residential market smart metering can deploy the Smart1 right now and know it reduces their exposure to technological and regulatory risk."

Chief Technology Engineer Andrew Thomas, comments: "The Smart1 meter has been built from the ground up specifically for the UK Market although it is perfectly suited to other markets. Not only does the product meet the needs of both the business market and current residential requirements (SRSM Specification) for electricity metering, it is a modular future-proof platform that will continue to deliver benefits over the entire lifetime of the asset.

"We have built a data-centric smart metering architecture that not only delivers electricity metering, but also supports Dual Fuel and Gas only installs.

"We have shifted the focus of the smart metering system from the meter to the data and communications (the Smart1's Top Hat hub being a crucial part of this). This shift makes the Smart1 meter more cost effective, inherently more reliable and minimises the effect of technology change on the metering device itself."

Thought I would summarise recent statements on volumes to clarify.

10/3/2010
Bglobal has installed and reads in excess of 25,000 business customer meters for npower to date under a preferred supplier framework contract, nearly 20,000 of which have been installed during the current financial year.

Recent Trading
The Company's nationwide installation programme continues to recover from disruption caused by freezing weather conditions in December and early January and smart meter installations performed across the UK by Bglobal during February reached almost 4,200.

3/2/2010
Recent Trading
During the third quarter of the year Bglobal installed nearly 10,500 meters and recently installed its 80,000th meter in the large and medium business market.

1/12/2009
Commenting on the results Peter Kennedy, Chairman said: "The first six months of the current financial year have seen Bglobal make significant strides forward and the business has turned a corner. We have rapidly increased monthly installations in the second quarter of the year to nearly 4,000 smart meters in a single month and have demonstrated the capability to deliver profitability on a monthly basis."

Highlights:
Revenue of £5.82million (2008: £2.70 million)
Loss before taxation of £0.67million (2008: £2.02 million)
Gross margins increased to 33.5% (H1 2008: 26.3%)
Monthly installation rate above breakeven level for September

Seems that 4,000 installs is breakeven which means BGBL may well announce maiden profits for full year - will be close though as lost £0.67M in first half and then bad weather affecting install.
