How about a minutes silence to reflect on the year of our lives stolen from us, our freedoms and liberties being stripped one by one and a vaccination programme all because of Communist China . Shameful day.

Manics : Thats a very fair and reasonable response ... thanks.

I am tempted to take another small top up at these levels as my principal view on the bank has not changed and with more IB diversity across the globe Barclays will be posting some strong profits.

I would hasten to guess that post the buyback the divi will also be raised.

PRBSHARES: share buybacks are squeaky clean; I mean especially at BARC. Like they need another "compliance" lawsuit...

It's all outsourced to JPM -who won't give much of a stuff. They just have to spend £700m and maintain an orderly market. They had 20 weeks. It's irrevocable; BARC can't turn off the taps because they don't like where the price is going.

The thing is with levels is that they can be self fulfilling. If enough people believe in 178p then they will sell as it rises above to buy back there, but I don't believe in any buyback manipulation in any case because the market knows JPM have to execute no matter the price. Doesn't matter. JPM buy in thousands of trades (cost-averaging) as is right and proper, anything else would be a bit squiffy imo.

Why do I get that feeling that lots of shares in the buy back are being bought around 178/9p

Manics : in my view nothing has changed for barc bar the resurgence of the virus across europe, but without a large coverage with the vaccine this was always likely to be the case.

Not sure what your thoughts are on this, but it feels like the stock is being pulled back to this level for the daily buys to be filled ?

Manics : 19 weeks would equate to £7 mln a day so they obviously want to get a wriggle on !

Being that the UK is doing so well with the vaccine rollout and that it seems we will all be spending our money within our borders this summer , to me this points to a strong rise in the UK economy.

Hopefully our high vaccine coverage will defend our covid success against the EU spread. Its very sad that the world has been infected by such a horrible virus but I guess this is the cycle of life and we as the human race are very good at adapting and surviving.

Israel has proven that the vaccine works for the population and country and between us and the US we are well on our way to a similar situ.

Lets hope as investors we can all make a few quid within Barc and for me an ideal exit would be in the early to mid £2 's .... fingers crossed and gla
