17/3/2021 11:46 | U.K. bank stocks and the wider financials sector added buoyancy to London stocks on Tuesday, as Credit Suisse said it sees opportunity for British banks once pandemic-induced lockdowns end. Shares in Barclays (BARC.L) Lloyds (LLOY.L) and HSBC (HSBA.L) all highlighted by the Swiss bank, traded around 1.5% to 2.5% higher on Tuesday. But NatWest (NWG.L) stock — which received an upgrade from Credit Suisse (CS) — fell around 2.5%. The U.K.’s financial regulator, the Financial Conduct Authority, started criminal proceedings, alleging that the bank broke money laundering rules. The U.K.’s domestic banks, including Barclays, Lloyds, and Natwest, face “a cyclical and even structural turning point post lockdowns,” analysts at Credit Suisse wrote in a report on Tuesday, as analyst Omar Keenan assumed coverage of the sector. | bernie37 | |
