01/11/2023 08:44 | Digital data security, big problem. 31 OCTOBER 2023, LONDON. BAE Systems acquires Eurostep to deliver advanced digital asset management. BAE Systems has acquired Eurostep, a secure data sharing company headquartered in Sweden. The company will form part of BAE Systems’ Digital Intelligence business. The acquisition is the next evolution in an established relationship between the two companies which have worked together for many years. The agreement brings together complementary capabilities in digital asset management, enabling defence and heavily regulated customers to optimise the operation, costs and through-life support of complex assets. | ribblewader
30/10/2023 16:15 | Any future orders will have to transfer 'something' to Saudi regardless of type of aircraft. The Saudi government is doing that through SAMI. Whichever plane the Saudi's opt for I think all the cards are in their hands when it"s a multi billion dollar order- SAMI is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund (PIF). Launched in May 2017 and working under the directives outlined in the Saudi Vision 2030. Aiming to be among the top 25 defense companies in the world by 2030, SAMI is expected to play a key role in localizing 50% of Saudi Arabia’s total government defense spending | rodbender1
30/10/2023 13:36 | That would blow any chance of them getting on the UK led FCAS, which is what KSA want. French may offer to include in the French/German competing programme …. but same German approach would remain. Can’t see the French alloing Saudi Rafale assembly, parts supply either. | squidsgone
30/10/2023 13:24 | Very small chance they go the Rafale route, nobody in the industry really believes its a serious threat. That said, we do see stupid decisions from time to time and this would be stupid from the Saudi's. | mr euro
28/10/2023 11:53 | Many reports last week about Saudi interest in Rafale. If that proves true then that would be a major blow to BAe. Saudi has 100+ aircraft which need replacing. If the Germans keep up their ban on building new aircraft then I now fear the worst! Coupled with The Times who have reported MBS visit to the UK might now be in December or next year. No rush then to put pen to paper! Maybe the 48 Typhoons is politically dead. | rodbender1
19/10/2023 11:42 | Subterfuge. Who needs an independent nuclear deterrent when they have a bin bag. Less money for the military, more for the benefit seekers. | rech
19/10/2023 11:40 | That must be in the world's biggest bin-bag. | wad collector
19/10/2023 09:16 | Huge section of new nuclear missile submarine moved A huge section of HMS Dreadnought is on the move. This section of the first of the Dreadnought class strategic deterrent boats is the largest segment or ‘mega unit’ of Dreadnought yet completed. The Royal Navy say here that it’s also the longest section of a submarine moved through the streets of Barrow-in-Furness from BAE Systems’ fabrication facility to the cavernous Devonshire Dock Hall which dominates the skyline of the Cumbrian town. | ribblewader
16/10/2023 11:18 | The article is just confirming what we already know but does highlight some other companies in the sector. | pj84
16/10/2023 10:54 | I'm purely an income investor and have held BA. for many years. Dividend growth has been decent and by chance capital growth great, especially the last couple years, though I don't hold with that aim. The current yield as said is low, under 3% but I'm not considering selling even though I could increase my income by reinvesting in a higher yielder. I largely ignore share prices and rather consider the cash income I receive year on year. Since this has been improving from BA. I'll continue to hold. Another important point in my strategy is diversification. To reduce risk I hold a wide range of sectors in my port and there's no other share in the FTSE100 to compare with this arms manufacturer though there is in the USA if BA. for any reason ran into trouble serious enough for me to dump it. Guns is a sector in which I wish to be. | anhar
15/10/2023 16:50 | My thought to, wad. Return of just under 3% and I can see the share price going higher to £15 or more! | ribblewader
15/10/2023 09:47 | Xd this week. 11.5p doesn't seem so much as the divis used to , a reflection of the share price growth and inflation. But that is the nature of the market at the moment, when 5% interest accounts are available . Stating the obvious really , but this is no longer the place to put your money for a hefty yield. We'll have to settle for capital growth..... | wad collector

10/10/2023 11:15 | BAE Systems is featuring a prototype variation of the Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle (AMPV) at AUSA 2023. The AMPV Counter-Unmanned Aircraft System (CUAS) prototype, built on the same proven chassis as the existing variants in the family of vehicles, includes External Mission Equipment Package (ExMEP) enhancements that demonstrate the rapid integration of future technologies and capabilities onto the platform. | ribblewader
06/10/2023 11:38 | Saw an interesting video the other day: "Historian Predicts How Russia's War in Ukraine Will End" So, is it a victory for a) Ukraine, b) Russia, or c) "none of the above"? He said that WW1 and WW2 were unusual wars in the sense that there was a definitive victory. Most wars are long drawn out things that can go on for ages. There is generally a de-escalation of intensity from the initial stages, with both sides plugging away. So the most likely answer is "c - none of the above". Which is great news for defence contractors. Fwd PE is a little less than 15, which is very reasonable. I'm happy to hold at these levels. | blippy3

03/10/2023 09:56 | Comment from Berenberg (Presumably from yesterday. Citywire a day late in such bookie forecasts right?) Berenberg: BAE is ‘good value’ given growth prospects Berenberg has upgraded BAE Systems (BA) as the defence group is entering a ‘step-change Analyst George McWhirter upgraded his recommendation from ‘hold’ to ‘buy’ and increased the target price from £10.50 to £11.70 on the Citywire Elite Company, which gained 0.8%, or 8.2p, to £10.06 yesterday. McWhirter said that the upgrade reflects ‘signs of a pivot in capital allocation towards strategic mergers and acquisitions, in addition to maintaining appropriate returns to shareholders, and our expectation that BAE will deliver a 10% earnings per share compound annual growth rate over 2023-27’. He said the group’s acquisition of Ball Aerospace, a sector to which it was ‘under-exposed ‘Strong order intake is also increasing outer-year visibility and gives us confidence that we are entering a step-change in organic growth over the next five years,’ said McWhirter. ‘Against this backdrop, the shares offer good value.’ | geckotheglorious

02/10/2023 09:05 | Like this one tournesol? The Ministry of Defence has awarded £3.95 billion of funding to BAE Systems for the next phase of the UK's next-generation nuclear-powered attack submarine programme, known as SSN-AUKUS. | ribblewader
02/10/2023 06:13 | Surprised no comment here on the Aukus contract. | tournesol
26/9/2023 13:48 | In a diversfied income port like mine I regard some sectors as core, being those which I'd always want to include. These must-haves imo include arms manufacturers and my share here is BA. which I've held for many years, not that there's a lot of choice in the UK market in this sector. | anhar |
