The UK’s foremost combat air companies and the Ministry of Defence have conducted research with scientists at the cutting-edge of machine learning, artificial intelligence, data science and computing to support the development of software for a next-generation fighter jet.

Tempest will be part of the UK’s future combat air system (FCAS), and is designed to be a supersonic stealth fighter equipped with pioneering technologies, including state-of-the-art integrated sensing and protection capabilities. These capabilities will be delivered, in part, by millions of lines of code on the aircraft, with many more lines of code also present in ground-based systems. This means the software on Tempest needs to be more robust and resilient than that on its potential adversaries.

Yup.

If I were a chartist I would say it was bouncing of the trend line.

Unfortunately, this company is the beneficiary of the world's current woes.

yes that is a rather suspicious co-incidence.

But that poster does not post on the other threads I frequent - leastways not with that same name - and excatly the same thing happens on most of those threads.

Not something to worry about, just a little strange.

tournesol only a blue poster can down tick but I don't think they can downtick themselves.

Have a look at posts 4919, 4931 and 5058 all of which aren't downticked and let me know if you think that is just coincidence.

Not much you can do about it and doesn't matter that much anyway but previously I was the same view as you as it appears to happen on a lot of threads.

tournesol you would think it was some sort of bot or programme, as why would someone spend so much time on what seems pointless but have a look back at my posts 4923, 4925 and 4928.

You can't stop whoever it is, who I presume believes companies such as BAE shouldn't exist, so probably best to just ignore.

My favourite song is John Lennon's imagine (that on it's own will divide opinion) and I am a pacifist at heart and wished the last world war really was the war to end all wars.

However, I am realist, and it is clear that humanity is incapable of that and so companies like BAE are needed essentially for defence and deterrence. Although others we will see it's purpose differently.

Three companies with world-leading military training expertise have announced that they are working together to combine their unrivalled technology and experience to revolutionise training for the military forces of the future.

BAE Systems, PLEXSYS and Red 6 have agreed to explore the integration of Red 6’s augmented reality headset technology and immersive simulation from PLEXSYS into BAE Systems’ single synthetic training environment. They will use BAE Systems' Project OdySSEy, combined with Red 6's Advanced Tactical Augmented Reality Systems (ATARS) technology and the Advanced Simulation Combat Operations Trainer (ASCOT) from PLEXSYS.

Turkey eyes up Eurofighter purchase amid German blockade concerns

Turkey has confirmed it has been in talks with the UK and Spain to purchase 40 Eurofighter Typhoon jets, but Germany could choose to block a potential deal.

‘We are working on procurement,’ Yasar Guler, minister of national defence for Turkey, said during a parliamentary hearing. ‘Now the UK and Spain are making efforts to convince Germany, [although] we are not in talks with Germany...if possible, we plan to purchase 40 Eurofighter Typhoon jets.’

BAE sales boosted as world moves to war footing

Demand for military equipment surges with conflict in the Middle East and Ukraine

Orders for submarines and fighting vehicles have boosted sales at BAE Systems to £30bn so far this year, the company has said.

Demand for military equipment has jumped as the world moves on to a war footing, with conflict both in the Middle East and Ukraine.

BAE’s bookings so far this year include £3.9bn towards the next phase of the Royal Navy’s nuclear-powered attack submarines, which are being developed jointly with the US and Australia.

The US has also ordered more Bradley armoured vehicles from BAE and European customers including the Czech Republic have bought hundreds of CV90 fighting vehicles.

Analysts at Barclays led by Charlotte Keyworth said they expected the British defence company to book £34bn of business by the end of the year. The company maintained its outlook for sales and profit for the year.

Charles Woodburn, BAE Systems chief executive, said: “We are delivering another year of good sales and earnings growth, together with strong cash flow generation.

“Order flow on new and existing programmes, renewals on incumbent positions and progress with our opportunity pipeline remains strong. These underpin our confidence and visibility for good top line growth in the coming years.”

Defence companies have reaped billions of pounds of sales from countries seeking to rearm in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

BAE made a record £37bn in sales last year as governments around the world invested in defence capabilities to guard against a newly bellicose Moscow.

The company recently won about £1.4bn of work from Britain’s £4bn deal with Poland to supply air defence missiles and systems. Poland will buy the armaments from MBDA, the missile company BAE partly owns with Italy’s Leonardo and Airbus.

However, this deal is not captured in the figures released on Monday since the order will probably be booked next year.

In April, the Ministry of Defence awarded BAE £656m for the next stage of development of Tempest, the warplane which will replace the Royal Air Force’s Typhoon fighter from 2035.

Britain has partnered with Italy and Japan to develop the Tempest fighter jet

The jet is being developed with Italy and Japan. Saudi Arabia and Germany are also potential candidates to join the programme.

However, progress is being threatened by Berlin’s insistence on blocking a Saudi order for 48 Typhoon jets. Olaf Scholz has blocked the deal in the wake of the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi and Saudi airstrikes on Yemen.

Typhoons are partly constructed in the UK and Berlin’s block puts jobs at risk, since construction of the next generation of fighter jets will not start until the 2030s.

BAE has 98,000 workers around the world, adding 5,000 staff so far this year.

As well as making its own equipment, BAE supplies parts for other defence companies. It supplies up to 15pc of parts needed for the F-35 fighter jets, which are made by Lockheed Martin and supplied to the US, UK and Israel.

Its work on Israeli warplanes made it the target of protests in recent weeks by pro-Palestinian groups.

The Office of Naval Research (ONR) has awarded BAE Systems’ FAST Labs research and development organization a $5 million contract for the COALESCE (Common-architecture Amplifier for Low-cost, Efficient, SWaP-Constrained Environments) program.

In this effort, BAE Systems’ FAST Labs, will develop advanced Gallium Nitride (GaN)-based monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) and module electronics. The program’s objective is to develop the world’s highest efficiency high power amplifier module in its frequency band. The radio-frequency (RF) modules will then transition to small form factor U.S. Navy payloads, enabling longer range and greater effectiveness in active electronic warfare applications.
