30/1/2023 21:26 | Wad, I thought Ukraine were after F16's not 35's. Six month lead time to train pilots on the 16's cant believe it would be 35's as training would be even longer! | ribblewader
30/1/2023 17:45 | They will when Ukraine have used all their surface to air missiles shooting down drones. Ukraine are expecting the Russian bombers to come in then. | roghart1
30/1/2023 17:40 | Must say I don't understand why/how Russia doesn't seem to have established overwhelming dominance of Ukrainian air space. The tiny Ukrainian air force must be channelling the Battle of Britain spirit. Good luck to them. | tournesol

17/1/2023 11:46 | RW - the 100 squadron will be in service for another few years yet, mainly used for target practice. As for the red arrows .............. what is the point of them these days? They serve no purpose that I can see beyond inflating the pilots egos and attending a few air shows/bake off finals. Not a luxury that can be afforded any more. | ohdearohdearohdear
17/1/2023 11:11 | rech, no doubt! ohdear. I know, T1's have/had an OOS (Out of Service date) of 2020, which is why they need replacing. The T1's are only used by the UK now (Reds & 100Sqn). I first put my hands on a T1 in the late 80s and that was one that had been in service since late 70's and is still around! | ribblewader

16/1/2023 09:07 | Rumours that the UK Government might cancel the Type 32 Frigates, not to be confused with the in-build Type 26 and Type 31 vessels already underway in Scotland, have been described as “an act of national self harm”. Cancelling frigates that were supposed to increase the size of the Royal Navy fleet at a time of global tension and renewed challenge at sea for the West is like Britain shooting itself in the foot just before a race. | ribblewader

11/1/2023 14:33 | Government discussing with others concerned the supply of challenger 2 tanks to Ukraine. These are manufactured by BAE Systems. As well as some will need replacing our armoury it would be a good showcase to other countries who might want to buy tanks. LONDON (dpa-AFX) - The British government has hinted at an initiative in the debate over supplying modern battle tanks to Ukraine. "It is clear that battle tanks could give the Ukrainians crucial capabilities, and the prime minister told President Selenskyj last week that Britain will provide what it can," a spokesman for British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak told reporters in London on Wednesday. He also said Britain would accelerate its support for Kiev and provide the country with "the kind of military technology that will help win the war." Sunak, he said, had instructed Defense Secretary Ben Wallace to work with allies in the coming weeks to discuss "how we can go further and faster in our support to Ukraine." That, he said, would include the delivery of tanks. Media had recently reported that London was considering supplying Challenger 2 main battle tanks, which would make it the first country to give modern Western battle tanks to Kiev to defend against Russia's war of aggression. | bartyb
