BAE Systems announces partners for Optionally Manned Fighting Vehicle design

BAE Systems is teaming with Elbit Systems of America, Curtiss-Wright Corporation, and QinetiQ Inc. on its design for the U.S. Army’s Optionally Manned Fighting Vehicle (OMFV).
The companies will work together to produce an innovative, purpose-built, next-generation combat vehicle designed to meet the U.S. Army’s requirements for an agile, lethal, and survivable solution that will help redefine land combat operations and maneuverability in future conflicts. The proposal was submitted to the U.S. Army earlier this month and today, BAE Systems announced details of how the companies are collaborating.

grahamburn. I was refering to the fact that divvy day gave me 10.4pps into my bank account and then, on top of that the share price rising gives me a further 10pps x number of shares held.

What about all the divs being reinvested? Might provide a little bit of support (not that it needs it).

Charlie. Dividend payment day has no effect whatsover on the day's price behaviour.

It's ex-dividend day that usually has that effect.

LONDON — The British government’s budget watchdog says a newly published Ministry of Defence ten-year equipment plan is affordable but fails to account for the country’s difficult economic situation.

“While the plan continues to serve a useful purpose in reporting to Parliament on planned expenditure, the volatile external environment means this year’s plan is already out of date,” the National Audit Office said in its report on the 2022-2032 defense spending plans released by the MoD on Tuesday.

BAE Systems completed additional ground-to-air test firings to prove the effectiveness of 70mm rockets guided by APKWS® guidance kits against Class-2 unmanned aerial systems (UAS) that weigh roughly 25-50 pounds and can travel at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour.

Nice rise on divvy day!

Users of the F-35 huddle in Italy to tout joint maintenance plans

AMENDOLA AIR BASE, Italy — Air force chiefs from around the world who flew into southern Italy this week to discuss getting the best out of their F-35s gathered in front of journalists to watch a mechanic working on an Italian jet.

The scene at Amendola air base would have been unremarkable except the mechanic was from the Dutch air force, and was part of a bid to show how F-35 operators can work on each other’s aircraft to save cash, increase efficiencies and show Moscow how united they are.

Agree, then again how could the UK continue to urge NATO partners to get to 2% GDP if they didn’t themselves.

Defence spending to remain at least 2% of GDP with increases over this dependent on the spending review ahead of next years budget. Thats good enough for me.

I like how these CV90's are selling!

BAE Systems has signed a follow-on contract worth $90 million with the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) for two new CV90 variants, which are being added to the Swedish CV90 RENO upgrade program.

The two new variants will be delivered by BAE Systems’ Swedish joint venture HB Utveckling AB, which brings together BAE Systems Hägglunds and Bofors manufacturing capabilities. The new variants are the Forward Maintenance vehicle, which will provide critical frontline support, repair, and recovery for other vehicles, ensuring improved overall combat vehicle availability; and the Combat Engineer variant, which will significantly grow the ability to ensure route clearance and deny enemy forces mission critical mobility. These two new variants will join the Swedish Army’s mechanized formations with deliveries scheduled between 2023 and 2027.

The Times were attributing the share price drop last week to oil tensions between the US and KSA, potentially impacting BAE’s important KSA market.

Five more Type 26 Frigates have been ordered by the UK Government, bringing the total number of Type 26 Frigates being built on the Clyde up to eight and the total number of frigates being built in Scotland up to 13.

The Prime Minister is attending the G20 summit in Bali, Indonesia, where he announced that BAE Systems has been awarded a £4.2 billion contract to build five more Type 26 frigates for the Royal Navy, on top of the three already under construction.

Yes, US market more important for the co than UK, and defence spending there has bipartisan support. Plus, the major UK programs are (should be?) ring fenced, such as the nuclear subs (Astute + SSBN) and Typhoon support + upgrade work.

We get a trading update on Tuesday followed by Budget on Thursay. Should be an interesting week!

wow big drop today?? -8%! well guess at end of month can reinvest my Divi's a bit cheaper.

Surely if as suggested above about whether UK cuts on defence spending then BAE should be immune to a degree as it's got global reach! and if recent events have taught us anything then having a well equipped military is paramount.

The Russian army is hopeless;majority of the soldiers don't even want to fight. When Russia eventually gives up -how many Woke European governments will stick to defence increases? That's the danger for defence stocks .
