15/2/2023 08:59 | Its true to say that the lack of penny parts makes billion pound tech worthless! Its about time we, and NATO realised we cant keep giving ammo away without making more. The UK has always been tight fisted giving troops ammo,we now need a massive re-stock programme! | ribblewader
15/2/2023 08:31 | @ Wad collector That FT item is firewalled. | rech
14/2/2023 21:15 | Ordnance Systems is a pretty small part of BAe but it is interesting to consider the role of ammunition in the defence scene. The delivery systems may be the expensive bit but not much point in having sophisticated delivery if you don't have the rounds.... | wad collector
14/2/2023 09:15 | According to the Ministry of Defence, the Challenger 3 battle tank programme has achieved a noteworthy feat by being ahead of schedule and within budget. This achievement signifies that the tank design has been approved and that Rheinmetall BAE Systems Land (RBSL), the company awarded the £800m contract in 2021, can commence production of the Challenger 3 prototypes. | ribblewader
13/2/2023 08:17 | ROME — As Britain, Italy and Japan embark on an ambitious plan to build a new fighter by 2035, the U.K.’s defense minister has warned of disastrous consequences should any of the partners get “cold feet” and pull out after work starts. ...... ......He added, “All three of us need a new fighter capability towards the end of the decade,” and claimed, “There is no dropping out because we will let each other down. Potentially we could put an end to our own capabilities in our own countries for good. So if half way along we get cold feet and one nation pulls out, then foreign policy wise, strategically and industrially it would be very bad for us all.” | ribblewader
09/2/2023 16:18 | Britain starts construction on new nuclear missile submarine Steel has been cut today on Warspite, the third of four new Dreadnought Class submarines, currently in build at BAE Systems’ Barrow-in-Furness site. 03/2/2023 22:11 | Just under 200 Mill left to spend on the buyback. Looks like it'll be finished well before the end of the year (original scheduled end date). | chiefbrody
03/2/2023 20:33 | Another seriously large long term contract for BAE. And I see that a McKinsey report pointed out that there is becoming a "serious problem of weapon system availability in several European countries" which is kind of obvious if lots are being sent East. Which, obviously is good for the Defence Industry even if BAe is not the sole beneficiary. Good time for BAe to be negotiating prices. Furthermore the shift from hardware weapons to software weapons is not such a bad thing here either. BUY AND FORGET is IC's suggested strategy here in their FTSE350 annual review . | wad collector
03/2/2023 08:00 | BAE Systems has been awarded a contract by the Naval Information Warfare Systems Command (NAVWAR) for the Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services (CANES) program. BAE Systems is one of eight companies that will be competing for work on the IDIQ program. | charlie_324

31/1/2023 10:05 | Not sure the USAF would be too keen to farm out their multimillion pound tools either, but they are said to be considering it. By an unnamed source. A difficult political decision even if an obvious strategic one. However latest seems to be a no from Uncle Joe Biden. | wad collector
31/1/2023 09:41 | Not sure the F35 is even on the table. After all its an interdicter not a fighter. Perhaps some of the tranch 2 Typhoons or early Rafale. | ribblewader
30/1/2023 21:28 | Certain parties seem to want this war to go on indefinitely so 6 months training no big deal. | chiefbrody
30/1/2023 21:26 | Wad, I thought Ukraine were after F16's not 35's. Six month lead time to train pilots on the 16's cant believe it would be 35's as training would be even longer! | ribblewader
30/1/2023 17:45 | They will when Ukraine have used all their surface to air missiles shooting down drones. Ukraine are expecting the Russian bombers to come in then. | roghart1
30/1/2023 17:40 | Must say I don't understand why/how Russia doesn't seem to have established overwhelming dominance of Ukrainian air space. The tiny Ukrainian air force must be channelling the Battle of Britain spirit. Good luck to them. | tournesol
