21/8/2019 07:38 | Excuss my ignorance on things nautical but I had to look up the difference between a destroyer, frigate and corvette. Destroyers are heavier (5 to 10k tonnes)but..... The term "frigate" was readopted during the Second World War by the British Royal Navy to describe an anti-submarine escort vessel that was larger than a corvette, while smaller than a destroyer. Equal in size and capability to the American destroyer escort, frigates are usually less expensive to build and maintain. You live and learn, or you give up! | ribblewader

For future business the design will need to evolve in order to cover these missions more effectively. If is does become the Type 45 replacement could someone advise the MoD that "destroyers" should embody a realistic capability to "destroy" enemy surface ships? | shalder
