Excuss my ignorance on things nautical but I had to look up the difference between a destroyer, frigate and corvette. Destroyers are heavier (5 to 10k tonnes)but.....

The term "frigate" was readopted during the Second World War by the British Royal Navy to describe an anti-submarine escort vessel that was larger than a corvette, while smaller than a destroyer. Equal in size and capability to the American destroyer escort, frigates are usually less expensive to build and maintain.

You live and learn, or you give up!

I would make it a higher priority personally - all current Type 26 customers were looking for a ship optimised for ASW, if they had required GP or AAW emphasis the orders would have gone elsewhere. For future business the design will need to evolve in order to cover these missions more effectively.

If is does become the Type 45 replacement could someone advise the MoD that "destroyers" should embody a realistic capability to "destroy" enemy surface ships?

Can Britain Build A Hypersonic F-35 Stealth Fighter?

News last month that Britain is boosting its hypersonic weapons program didn’t come as a surprise. Many other nations are doing it.

What caught everyone’s attention was that there are plans to rework the jet engines on the 1990s Eurofighter Typhoon—which propel the aircraft to Mach 2—into hypersonic engines that could achieve Mach 5 or faster.
