22/2/2005 19:19 | Next thing you know the Slaters will have a mining vehicle, oh they do, ok. Seriously though it does the sectors reputation no good whatsoever screwing stockholders by selling dreams. As you say though Avocets figures speak for themselves and the market will remain irrational far longer than those investors can stay solvent. | ![]() yikyak
22/2/2005 18:05 | YikYak, I do not think it matters, too many of the late comers are diving on the latest Pretend Mining IPO in the City Conveyor belt, the market is flooded. Instead of looking at Reserves, grades or Mine output they look at hot air, it is just like February 2000 with TMT. The market is irational always has been. AVM's figures speak for themselves anyway. | theberg
22/2/2005 15:07 | very hard to get at a discount now just had to pay full offer for 20 most mm's will bid for more than they will sell | ![]() budevenwiser
22/2/2005 12:15 | What are the prospects for AVM price movement by the end of the day? Perhaps not insignificant if the price of gold holds or improves. This might then be the commencement of the movement that takes 100p out, once and for all. Let's hope so. If not today, there is always tomorrow :-) | ![]() saucepan
19/2/2005 15:14 | Agreed, corrientes. The other possibility is that AVM has a seller from much lower levels dripping in stock and stunting the price. Whether or not, it's just a matter of time before due recognition is granted, even if that's 6+ months away. DD | ![]() doobydave
18/2/2005 07:58 | There was also an article in last weeks Mining Journal (I dont have it), entitled Avocet sheds tungsten operation. | mieke

15/2/2005 14:53 | Just noticed that on the 8th Feb the Commitment of traders net short position in gold was 38182. Every single rally in the last 4 years in gold has started when the position is below 50000. | ![]() acko2001
15/2/2005 13:18 | From a charting point of view gold completed 5 waves to the downside and reversed in the target area (I think I posted $417 with extra resistance at $404). 5 waves according to elliott is supposed to determine the direction of the market, i.e the high at $457 was the end of a cycle and the 5 waves down were the subwaves of wave 1 of a larger new down trend. If that is the case then we are now in an ABC correction ie A wave up B wave down and C wave up which comprises wave 2. We should then have a main wave 3 down comprising of 5 subwaves. From a fundamental point of view I disagree with what the charts are saying and I expect gold to continue its run but I have learnt through experience that there are many times when the charts are correct and the fundamentals take longer than you think to show through. I have been long Avocet since 34p and opened a few gold trades at $414 and $417. I will be watching these three waves which should last several weeks with interest if they can take out the high at $457 then the analysis is wrong. If they cant then I would expect them to top around $436- $440 which is where I will exit the trades and keep my core holding. There is a chart on stockcharts.com, which demonstrates the 5 waves down but also shows the level of support for the main uptrend at the 65 MA | ![]() acko2001 |
