14/11/2024 12:14 | You still have £1m to pass on tax free assuming it’s you&spouse passing it down. That’s assuming you have a house worth around 350k. Plus you can buy AIM shares or other investments that attract less tax. The effective tax rate on the gold plated final salary schemes is normally 100%, which is probably the only good reason to have a private one. My ISA is 5x my sipp so makes little difference to me | dr biotech
14/11/2024 11:54 | 4* Aviva plc issued a very strong Q3 trading update this morning. CEO Amanda Blanc observed, “Trading continues to be extremely positive right across the business, underlining the strength of our consistent strategy and the significant benefits of Aviva's scale and diversification.R wealthoracle.co.uk/d | martinmc123
14/11/2024 11:20 | Leave your pension pot to the taxman and you lose 40% when you die. Buy an annuity and you can kiss goodbye to 100%. | lord gnome
14/11/2024 11:03 | I feel now that every £1 I spend it’s only costing 60p | dekle
14/11/2024 10:50 | I think the government want people spending their pensions / gifting their money as it will help to stimulate the economy and increase revenue via VAT etc. If you don't spend it, or your loved ones don't via gifting, then in more cases come 2027 the tax man will get his hands on it. Good luck all 👍🏻 | tuftymatt
14/11/2024 10:45 | The only issue to consider is what rate of tax one is paying. If the interest received on the 25% or the annuity doesn’t attract the 40% anyway. I’ve still want to run it by my IFA before committing to drawdown or annuity or let it lie. | dekle
14/11/2024 10:27 | Personally I will take my 25% lump sum and take more drawdown than planned. The lump sum will go in Lisa's and premium bonds. All cash savings will be the last to be spent and drawdown the first. That's how I see savvy people playing it but many will go down the annuity route as long as rates make them attractive. But don't forget annuities die with you and your spouse | dope007
14/11/2024 10:07 | 500p Soon ! | chinese investor
14/11/2024 09:58 | the only fly in the ointment "Solvency lost a little ground" 205 down to 195 Apart from that pretty good numbers have a good one | jubberjim
14/11/2024 09:49 | With Rachel Reeves new tax treatment of pensions I believe more people will buy annuities rather than leave their pension pots intact when they die as they cannot be passed on to their children IHT free. More business for companies like Aviva selling them | dekle
14/11/2024 09:47 | I doubt it mw16 because tax here makes such short term trading unprofitable unless by spread bets or in tax sheltered wrappers. They have even more short term trading in US! | bhoddhisattva
14/11/2024 09:40 | Can't blame them MW16 - it becomes self-enforcing as the market swings one way and then the other and so gives them this opportunity and a second bite of the cherry | joe say
14/11/2024 09:33 | Short term thinking, greed of the UK investor is to blame. They get a 5% rise, bank it and think they are a legend. | mw16
14/11/2024 09:26 | Ref post 20267, I agree and money shifting to across the pond investments during the past week or so is telling from an expected growth perspective. Great numbers here today though and I won't be letting this winner go. Good luck all 👍🏻 | tuftymatt
14/11/2024 09:16 | Should be £5.50+ | adam
14/11/2024 09:10 | It’s not the market 5har is dreadful - it’s UK investor confidence - were taxed too much as individuals and corporations, growth and innovation hampered by red tape and taxes .. | bhoddhisattva
14/11/2024 08:35 | Just gallows humour Gary! Not REALLY meant to be taken seriously... | cwa1
14/11/2024 08:35 | Hard to ask for better performance from AV and a half decent reaction in the share price Having said that it is very difficult to overcome the prevailing sentiment for UK PLC. I know I sound like a broken record but 10 year gilts yield now at 16 year high while sterling continues to slide. At least we can take comfort that AV are doing a great job regardless. | muscletrade
14/11/2024 08:33 | Gary - I've held for 13 years and not about to change that. | skinny
14/11/2024 08:20 | CWA1,and Skinny wrong with your predictions. Keep the faith boys ! AB Top CEO. | garycook
14/11/2024 08:05 | @tornado - I'd agree that the dividend growth has to now be at least 5% pa - as stated in the update However, they state cash cost of at least mid single digit growth - which given buybacks will imply an even greater percentage (given there'll be fewer shares on which to pay) | joe say
14/11/2024 08:04 | Auction - fingers crossed for the sp | wish i wasnt in rbs |
