Often one leaves another takes their place. Look at the number of airlines that has collapsed including PanAm and yet we have more airlines then ever.

...The strong get stronger and the week...

...I seem to recall AV being berated on this BB for not being able to match the low
premium being offered by a competitor!!!

Most posts after the consolodation of the shares were speaking of a rising dividend rather than removing share assets.

AB the CEO could come out today to confirm Aviva has no intention of cutting the dividend. Why not?

Just saying that those you expect to be reliable and consistent can often surprise. Others in the same sector didn't withhold payments.

Direct line announced they are stopping dividend payments due to higher than usual payouts recently.They put it down to cold weather and inflation

Aviva temporarily suspended their dividend during the pandemic under press from regulators. You can't compare that with DLG being forced to cancel their dividend, essentially because they can't afford it. Aviva have since paid out large special dividends, more than offsetting the earlier suspension.
