cjac; thanks for the Just info. I am no expert on that area so had concerns given the focused nature of the business and issues. I will add them to my list for a close look.

Surprised slightly by the price action - thought it would rise especially with the rest of the market fairly strong - I suppose a bit like the housebuilders they seem to go down on good news

Excellent news that AB is now with us..and at a decent price
Be clear; she was legally bound to invest £1m as part of her CEO Contract
Nonetheless AB well done
Looks like we might have a very sure footed CEO...at long last

That is what I call a statement and it obviously could not be executed before Friday's RNS

Well my view is that if there is someone sniffing that entity may not want the overseas portfolio

Question for anyone, if the Singapore unit was that good was it the right decision to sell that unit?

Ow that's what I call a Director's purchase. Needed to wait until the news was out before she could buy and the price had moved against her. A real statement of confidence.

wba - i dont think annuity misselling is an issue at all. trickier for the bigger cos where they have with profit or other policies that vest into annuities and they dont offer transparent pricing. however fca has been all over this and fined some so i think this is quite clean now.

er is a whole other topic and relevant for aviva. i think they are reasonably well marked but the pra has decided in their wisdom that they dont like illiquid assets backing annuities. they have pushed to try and have risk neutral concepts applying to how they value the embedded floor on house prices that is in er by adjusting the forward rate that insurers use. its in a thing called the embedded value test. this was super costly for just but they have largely taken their medicine on this now.

for me the main risk is a long term decline in house prices rather than a short term shock as just have much higher % in er than aviva or many other insurers. but given this would impair a decent part of the banking system im not sure it would be politically or economically viable.

so with just you are able to buy something with nav of near £2 for 50p. i know aberdeen have been selling down and this is keeping them pegged near 48-50 but this will stop one day

On another site 9.4 to 8.9 - it actually appears to be growing no quicker than Aviva it just commands a 50 percent higher price

On 2021 and 22 forecasts Prudential goes from a pe of 8.9 to about 8.4 and Aviva from 6.5 to 6 with prudential book value at about 1.8 with Aviva at 0.6 - so prudential on these forecasts is not growing any quicker

PRU has slightly higher growth?, there is no comparison between PRU and Aviva.

Can any of the insurance boys out there tell me why Rsa and Prudential trade over book value and command P/E ratios 50 percent higher than aviva - I suppose Prudential being in Asia might have slightly higher growth prospects but I don’t see Rsa being any better than aviva.Aviva still trades at about a 35 percent discount to book - I can’t see why

Holding stocks for that length of time from such a low mcap, and for them still to be listed and traded is much more luck than judgement.

cjac; I agree that Just seems undervalued, but there is a lot floating around about both annuities being the next big misselling issue, and concerns about the valuation of equity release mortgages. Given that this covers pretty much all of Just's business do you not think they should trade at a substantial discount?
