02/4/2008 11:37 | johnrxx99, I came across Aveva recently and was fascinated to find it was the renamed CADCentre. I first came across the CADCentre about thirty years ago while working for ICL but lost track of it as my career moved into other areas of computing. I have tended to steer clear of investing in software companies because of my background (Logica comes to mind) but Aveva do look interesting. Like Autonomy, they have established themselves as a leader in a specialised market. In the header you say, "I shall be happy to update the thread as we go along." It would be worth including a link to the Aveva website and to the upcoming Aveva Marine Users' Meeting in Kobe (Japan) on 3-5 June, 2008. The next time you update the header, you might also consider a small change that would make it easier to understand. You claim, "you won't get 100% and loose it overnight". "Loose" means "let go". I am sure you must mean "lose". John | john of groats
17/3/2008 13:19 | The Aveva website just announced a big order for software to design the new UK aircraft carriers. That's quite a long term project. | t.martin
06/3/2008 09:07 | I am still confident of this company's future but not of the current market. I'm adding on dips. They have a unique offering and while their clients getting finance in this market may be a short term problem I dont see the world collapsing even if a few US banks do. | johnrxx99

01/3/2008 10:23 | From today's Telegraph: Aveva, which makes ship design software, slid 75 to 987p on concerns that the shipbuilding industry is starting to slow down. David Toms, an analyst at Numis Securities, said: "We remain positive on Aveva due to the near-term upgrade potential, but we are alert to the risks after so many strong years for shipbuilding." | sharw
29/2/2008 12:00 | John, Just a hunch but I would think a lot of employees in this company own a good number of shares. I wonder if the fall in the last few days is being caused by the CEO and the FD selling large tranches to accomodate the CGT changes and thereby setting the scene for more employees to follow suit. In this case it's anybodies guess; I may have jumped too early but would think at some point they'll get mopped up again. Richard longdon has already said ne will buy again at an opportune time. Just a hunch. NAI DYOR regrds $pong | spongman

29/2/2008 10:06 | Could be Johnrxx99; Buy/Sell ratio looks about evenish as I speak (obviously, these are only 'reported' trades) but it looks like a high volume day forming. I sold out on yesterdays drop to lock in profits and have re-entered half my position a little earlier but it has dropped further since. NAI Best regrds $pong | spongman
