I see that buys are outweighing sales by 2:1.

If this gets a recommendation in another of the investment newsletters during the course of Sept it could easily reach £7.

The launch of hylas1 is only some 10 weeks away - what will the share price rise to before then??

Might we see £7 per share?

Market not very strong today in general from what I can see but we have had a good run recently and I think every chance we will see 600p before the end of the week.

Afraid,I am not rich enough to go "blue" Delores but many thanks for your views.

My heart almost turned over when IQE did that turn,in a twinkle. It was also recommended by a vg newsletter I take too.

Agree on the AVN performance /timing..

Hi SS - sorry about that - assuming you are on the subscribtion version of ADVFN and not the free version then if I was you I would pester ADVFN to put it right.

I too have considered IQE - it announced good results and has previously been tipped by shares magazine but it has shot up from 10p to over 30p and so I am waiting to see if it will settle back a bit over the next few weeks.

AVN slow this morning but in the past it usually does better in the afternoons.

Goodluck

Dolores. Ima VERY sure there is but I am having GREAT difficulty with my ADVFN access. It take me ages to get onto the site and hardly am I on a BB,then I am logged off again. When I click on another thread or BB,it just logs me off again and the IQE BB,I havent even viewed. I have had my PC checked and contacted the support team and they advise me that I and my friend appear to be the only ones having the problem. Thank you for your interest and reply Dolores anyhow.

Guys and gals . Off topic.

Have any of you any thoughts on IQE please?. On the charts,as pointed out by a chartist(I am not one) its first line of resistance appears to be 120p. It has already had a very good run recently.TIA.

Avanti Communications could make rural broadband a reality – buy
Writing in The Daily Telegraph in October last year, the Prince of Wales warned that isolated rural communities had an "immense handicap" because of a lack of access to broadband services.

Three million UK homes have poor broadband connectionsQuestor says BUY

The Prince argued that this made it difficult to promote goods and services produced by businesses in the country, concluding that it was imperative that broadband services should be extended to even the most remote areas of the country to prevent them becoming nothing more than a reservoir of second homes.

One company is helping to make this happen - and funding news this week means now is a good time to buy.

The cost of building infrastructure for fixed-line or mobile internet access in isolated areas is prohibitively expensive; some have calculated that it would cost about £1,800 per home just to make the connection in the first place.

The answer to this is to receive broadband services from satellites in geo-stationary orbit.

This is the service that Avanti Communications currently has on trial. It is providing satellite broadband services in 14 European countries using rented satellite capacity.

However, to make it economic, the company needs its own satellites. This week it secured funding for the second of these.

Avanti raised £280m through a placing which will fund the purchase and launch of satellite number two. The first one, which will cover Europe, will be launched in spring this year. The second is expected to be launched in 2012 and complete coverage in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.

David Williams, the company's chief executive and an ex-telecoms banker, told Questor that further launches will be funded through cashflow and not via placings. This is good news because dilution is always a risk in loss-making companies that are investing in large projects. Management hope future satellite launches could cover areas in South Asia or Latin America.

The company's satellite exploits new technology that will enable Avanti to offer speeds of between 2Mb and 50Mb at comparable prices to other broadband providers to any location in the UK. The company will manage the technology and sell its capacity to broadband providers, who will then manage the customer-facing part of the business. Avanti itself will just operate the technical aspects and will not face individual consumers.

There is no doubt that demand for broadband is accelerating at a rapid rate. Video applications in particular are data hungry – and their use is rising all the time.

The company has had some revenues from its trial services and historical consulting activities, but these should start to rise significantly from 2011, with profitability being achieved in 2012, following the launch of the second satellite.

The company's business model looks sound and it is addressing a real need. The Government has an aspiration that all rural areas in the UK will have access to 2Mb broadband by 2012. Avanti is part of that ambitious plan – and the Government provided £24m in funding for the company's first satellite.

Despite the lack of a dividend and the current loss-making nature of the business, Questor likes the company and its medium-term prospects. Buy.

SXX has undoubted potential but i think it is a brave man that jumps on board a stock that has already gone up 450%. Think it needs some time to have a rest, consolidate and then maybe start moving up again.

It might keep going up from here but i nmy view would represent too much risk to the downside to make it a sensible play at the moment.
