10/3/2010 18:57 | i think we should all agree that as it stands with 10% more of Hylas capacity filled on new contracts and a further tranch of contracts to be signed within the coming weeks looking to exceed its prelaunch expectations this is undoubtedly good news. I think the fact that the launch date has been delayed by 8 weeks is a rather trifling concern. Lets not forget that the signing of contracts is what will make this venture profitable. Without those the satellite may as well be sat in a garage in Wolverhampton for all the revenue it will produce. hopefully the sickening feeling of the last hour of trading today will pass and make way for a significant rally from this point | hardrider8
10/3/2010 18:54 | I wonder how long they'd have sat on the news if Mammon hadn't brought it to our attention. | cancun tango
10/3/2010 18:45 | --->JIMBO55 I don't think you fully understand what I am saying. The fact is not whether they can keep up with all the news on every website on the planet. The fact is that when they were made aware of this news themselves, they should NOT have sat on it. Those are the rules of AIM and just about any stockmarket in the world with any supposed integrity. By any definition, this was very material news and it should have been fed to the market. When the shares were effectively collapsing with increased momentum, they should at least then have asked for a temporary share suspension as a false market had been created by their actions. This was no simple rumour that was circulated around which had no teeth. This was a delay to the launch itself. They would not have needed to worry about monitoring all the launch websites on the planet if they had simply released the news in an orderly manner. Regards, THE COUNT! | the count
10/3/2010 18:37 | > The Count - 10 Mar'10 - 18:32 - 1069 of 1069 > > This was material market information that they hung on to and caused those > of us who kept hold of all their stock unnecessary suffering (such as > myself) along with forcing others to panic and sell out. Nobody was forced to panic sell Mate. PIs need to learn to be less paranoid/lemming-lik Sure, you can argue they should be monitoring all possible news sources, but the web is a big place, and it can't be possible for them to monitor all the news feeds. I didn't know that space news site existed until somebody posted the link. | jimbo55
10/3/2010 18:30 | Not so sure it is that good an RNS, no mention at all of why there's been a 3 month delay in launch. Might have been a costly problem with the sattelite. I'm sure I read last year that HYLAS 1 had reached India and was being prepared for launch, maybe they've had to find a more costly launch provider, who knows. In the absence of anything solid from Avanti, the market is left to speculate and we can all see what its thinking. Ow. | cancun tango
10/3/2010 18:04 | Lordy - I think its a great buy. But how manipulated was this market? Absolutely crazy. The RNS now clarifies the position and that in itself will lead to an share price recovery. The 3 months delay is absolutely irrelevant in the wider scheme of things - its business as usual. Sadly the management were 24 hours late with this release. | melody9999
10/3/2010 18:04 | Yep quite a few of us getting paranoid I think. I would say very good RNS which is what we have come to expect with AVN and I will be most surprissed if it not marked up first thing but if I get the chance will try and add in the morning if it doesn't rocket up.... All the same one wonders what the MM's were doing marking it down like that but we will have a different day tomorrow I feel sure | yorgi
10/3/2010 17:55 | Looks like a fear/paranoia-driven slide in the share price to me. Avanti is not the most liquid of stocks at the end of the day. With the advent of that RNS, this looks like a seriously good buying opportunity. Just a pity I threw in the last of my ear-marked AVN money at 457p. Was starting to get a little paranoid myself, but always try to step back from what my emotions tell me to do in this game. They have been WRONG more often than not. | jimbo55
10/3/2010 17:53 | The launch news must have been known some days/weeks ago. I have no problems with a Soyuz launch ans I am considering a quick top up should the price drop in the morning. It could rise after the RNS though. | rogerbridge
10/3/2010 17:48 | this seems like pretty good news to me, but what does everyone else think?, is trading going to have a better day tomorrow? lets hope so I'm in for 5k on close 369p | lordy9098
10/3/2010 17:43 | Avanti Communications Group plc Trading Update, Contract Wins and Launch Schedule Avanti (AIM: AVN), the broadband satellite operator, is pleased to announce several contract wins and an update on trading and launch schedule. Contract Wins and Trading Update Avanti has signed a contract with a customer (name withheld for commercial confidentiality) for 320Mb of HYLAS 1 capacity serving Eastern Europe, representing approximately 10% of HYLAS capacity. With the volumes ramping up to 320Mb over the Initial Term of five years, the contract is potentially worth 21.9m in future revenues. The customer has also signed options over further bandwidth on HYLAS 1 and also on HYLAS 2, the Company's first contract on its second satellite. The client is one of the most experienced satellite broadband operators in the region. The customer's investment in bandwidth and also hardware (not included in the contract value) is significant and the contract is conditional upon completion of some asset financing by the customer. Avanti has also signed VNO contracts with three new customers based in the UK but serving various territories in Europe, taking its total VNO customer list to 58. Avanti has several other large contracts under negotiation which are expected to close in the coming weeks and, as a result, is now confident that it will comfortably exceed its target for pre-sales in launch year of 25%. Furthermore, Avanti has several contracts under negotiation for large pre-sales on HYLAS 2. Trading for the current period is in line with expectations. Launch Schedule Avanti has been advised by Astrium UK, the manufacturer of HYLAS 1, that, the satellite will now be delivered to the launch site in July 2010. Arianespace, the launch service provider has separately now confirmed that it will be ready to launch HYLAS 1 in August (a "launch campaign" lasting several weeks from delivery to the launch site is typical). Avanti had the contractual option of launch on either a shared Ariane 5 vehicle or a dedicated Soyuz vehicle and is delighted to announce that it will launch HYLAS 1 on a Soyuz vehicle. Soyuz is the world's safest launch vehicle with over 1,700 manned and unmanned launches. Thus, with some contingency included, Avanti is confident that the program will deliver HYLAS 1 into operation successfully by September 2010. Commenting, David Williams, Avanti Chief Executive, said: "With excitement growing around the launch of Europe's first dedicated Ka band broadband satellite I am please to demonstrate our success in filling up the satellite with some large contracts signed this month and others to be announced soon. We also now have draft contracts in documentation in relation to several additional major sales on HYLAS 2. We have found demand in the Middle East is particularly strong and even this early in the project we are achieving our price targets for HYLAS 2 capacity." ---ENDS--- | 5dally
10/3/2010 16:58 | Begining to smell a bit....or even stink.....insider trading !!! Well as I said earlier I thought it had been toooo good to be true catching the bottom, of what I thought was a market dip. Begining to look like more now but time will tell. From my point of view only a small buy today but none the less not looking so good now.......Who was it said "let the trend be your friend" and something about falling knives ! Perhaps Smarm might find out something tonight | yorgi
10/3/2010 16:51 | even a delay on the satellite launch should not justify a 20% drop in a day. My hope is that is all it is, and the stock can pick up from here once fears have been allayed. Seems rather overdone to me but i guess we will find out in due course! | hardrider8
10/3/2010 16:48 | gseppi those large trades weren;t sells. They were trades at the middle price likely beween MMs. THe freefall was caused once we went through 400. Took the market by suprise and buyers weren;t on the order book in time hence the plunge on no volume at the end. Important to note that since the last time we were at these prices we have funding for HYLAS 2, the checks for HYLAS 1 are proceeding well and the capacity is being filled at good prices. The only thing that we are waiting for is the launch date. If this has been put back then i can fully appreciate the drop to 400 as nervous investors get out. Anything further is lunacy and i shall be reentering to get my full position back after my stops were hit. A delay is not the end of the world and that is all we are talking about here. | 5070481
10/3/2010 16:44 | --->ALL If this is only due to a delay in the satellite launch, then I'm afraid it is total incompetence on the compay's part not to have notified shareholders through the appropriate channels as soon as they were aware of it. Regards, THE COUNT! | the count
10/3/2010 16:40 | Somebody must know something we dont! | togo2
10/3/2010 16:33 | Now i know why we had those massive sells a few days ago who ever it was knew something. Make no mistake there is some kind of problem what it is i do not know | gseppi
10/3/2010 16:33 | Maybe we have an RNS in the morning | yorgi
10/3/2010 16:32 | adn nothing confirmed on that either. That dropped pretty fast. | 5070481
10/3/2010 16:30 | This is a crazy mark down - you would think the sat launch had failed - not merely delayed 3 months | dolores123
10/3/2010 16:27 | Blimey....yes that is :-( | yorgi
10/3/2010 16:24 | That's a serious drop ! what's going on here then ? | 5dally
10/3/2010 16:21 | Oh my goodness.....thought it was too good to be true thinking I had caught the bottom ! | yorgi
10/3/2010 15:45 | Yorgi - will do. S | smarm |
