I gather there is no noticeable difference between the two services - so say Broadbandeverywhere, who are also offering both.

So how does a customer end up with one or the other?

All rather murky, I have reduced.

Disappointing to see 500p slipping away I did think we would add further to the rise this week, not as great as last week but continue up.

Gorbachof -We are in danger of reheating old arguments of a couple of months ago but the gist of the point at issue is summed up by TW as follows...

The maths are wrong because the analyst i) confused MegaHertz and MebaBits and ii) does not add up HYLAS 1 + HYLAS 2 capacity. The raw forward path capacity difference is 2.5x not 23x. Avanti has 8GHz and EUT has 20GHz.

TW's comments re Avanti following the Master Investor show may be of interest..

My delight at Avanti Communications serving up a cracking statement on the Monday after the show demonstrating clearly that Evil has got it 100% wrong was tempered by regret that the statement was not released before the show so that he could be tormented on stage. In the end Evil can bluster all he likes but having got his science and his decimal points wrong on this one, as the tide goes out he is exposed as wearing no shorts. It will not be a pretty sight (for his bank balance).

hi colva

i use a local company on the costa blanca, called net connect.
its a microwave system.the system is supposed to give you one meg,i have just done a speed test that was 0.38 meg.it also breaks down a lot,also you are not allowed to down load film.
I can use telefonica they are expensive when its set up if there is a problem there customer service is poor.
also in my area i would only get a max one meg.whith net connect they said i would get one meg no more no less (yea)
have a good bank holiday all.
ps you have better weather there than here

Hi Peter

Avanti were providing sat broadband in 2009 using leased capacity from other satellite operators - those customers are now being transfered onto Hylas 1.

Just out of interest - who is your ISP .

i don't see how it can be avanti. the dates are 2009,the satellite didn't go up till 2010

i live in spain,i payed a lot of money upfront for the set up about £500.i pay £35 a month. for this i get one megerband, (sometimes) constantly lose connection. so people can say there will not be the customers out there because of the price, but i beg to differ. if you want or need reliable broadband you will pay the price.

Just look how the business strategy is developing.

"About Avanti" at bottom of 21 April Press Release from AVN website:-

"Avanti sells managed high speed, high capacity satellite data communications services to telecoms companies which use them to supply a variety of network services to government, enterprise and consumer users."

Come on now don't you know that my informant has unreliably informed me that there is this new fangled theory called gravity which means that things can't actually stay up there and Avanti better watch out because if this is true, a big satellite is going to drop back to earth.
