11/7/2012 09:20 | I have to say I'm very surprised at the lack of response from what is clearly a good RNS confirming what we have all be waiting for and the optimistic amongst us expected. | yorgi
11/7/2012 08:43 | Here's the Trading Update from the Stock Exchange website ; Year-end trading update London - 11 July 2012. Avanti Communications Group plc (AIM: AVN, "Avanti" or "the Company"), the satellite operator, has published today a trading update for the year ended 30 June 2012. Total revenues and operating income for the 12 months to 30 June 2012 are expected to be £17.8m (2011: £6.1m.) Avanti has increased its Backlog (i.e. binding contracts for the sale of capacity in future periods) to £246m, an increase of £33m since Avanti last reported Backlog as at the end of April, 2012. The pipeline of potential sales stands at £502m. Avanti estimates that it needs to add approximately £11m per month to its Backlog in order to meet its objectives of selling all the capacity of HYLAS 1 and HYLAS 2 within three and four years of service launch, respectively. In the eight months since Avanti established this KPI, it has exceeded this target. The Company's second satellite, HYLAS 2, has completed its testing and has been successfully shipped to French Guiana prior to its launch on 2 August 2012 at approximately 9.50pm, UK time. ( HYLAS 2, which has almost three times the bandwidth capacity of HYLAS 1, will substantially increase the Company's international coverage. It will provide high speed data capacity to a growing range of telecoms, enterprise and government customers in fast growing markets in Eastern and Southern Africa, the Middle East and across the Caucasus. 80% of Avanti's total fleet capacity will address emerging markets. Yesterday, at the Farnborough Air Show, Avanti performed a signing ceremony with the European Space Agency to mark the commencement of the HYLAS 3 project. David Williams, Chief Executive, commented: "We have maintained our sales momentum and remain on course to fill the capacity of both HYLAS 1 and HYLAS 2 by the target dates in 2014 and 2016. "Demand in the fast growing economies across Africa and the Middle East is as strong as anticipated and therefore the launch of HYLAS 2 is very timely." | 2350220

11/7/2012 03:42 | Looks like Avanti have already started work on Hylas3 . Thanks to decomeau over on ii for finding this. MDA to provide a communications payload for the HYLAS 3 satellite MDA announced today that it has signed a contract valued at approximately CA$35 million with United Kingdom-based Avanti Communications Group plc to provide a Ka-band broadband communications payload solution for their HYLAS 3 satellite. HYLAS 3 will provide satellite data communications services covering Africa and the Middle East, and is expected to launch in 2015. The award of the HYLAS 3 payload to MDA is another testament to MDA`s leadership position in Ka-band multi-beam solutions. June 26th announcement is interesting, Space Systems/Loral have had a few problems recently. -------------------- June 5th announcement. MDA announced today that it has signed a contract to provide training support to the British Army. The training support will include acquiring video using small Unmanned Aircraft Systems. The video will be transmitted in real-time to soldiers' remote terminals, allowing them to be trained in the tasking of surveillance aircraft and the use of the information collected. The training exercises will be conducted from June to October 2012, with an option for an additional year. -------------------- The initial training period finishes in October , just after Hylas2 comes into service . | colva

10/7/2012 15:12 | Here you are G2 Avanti's Ka-band satellites available for NATO forces across Europe, Middle East and Africa London (10 July 2012): Avanti Communications (LSE: AVN), the satellite operator, is pleased to announce the signing of a Basic Ordering Agreement, BOA, with NATO's Communications and Information Agency (NCIA), formerly the NC3A Agency. The agreement allows NATO Command agencies and NATO Member States to request pricing and place orders using pre-agreed terms and conditions and pricing tables. NATO has recently acknowledged the importance of Ka-band in its future commercial satellite communications requirements. Ka-band provides extremely cost effective satellite bandwidth to support the higher data throughput requirements of operational and welfare applications for NATO and National deployments. Avanti's areas of coverage include Europe, the Middle East, Eastern and Southern Africa. Malcolm Green Head of NCIA's Satellite team commented "NATO's recent operational experience has highlighted the critical nature of beyond lines of sight communications. The introduction of Avanti's Ka-band satellite capacity provides a valuable addition to our communication capability options and demonstrates the increasing value of utilising competitively priced, leading-edge commercial Satellite Communications technology to support operations" David Williams, Chief Executive Officer of Avanti, commented "We are delighted that Avanti has begun the process of providing crucial communications support to NATO forces, particularly as Avanti can help them achieve best value and a technical solution ideally suited for the challenges they face".
