20/5/2012 10:54 | AVN: - Hylas 1 launched in November 2010 and on track for revenues of £50m pa around end 2013. - Hylas 2 launch window begins next month, is fully funded and has three times the bandwidth capacity of HYLAS 1. - Hylas 3 is fully funded and has up to 4GHz of Ka band capacity. Orders are growing rapidly. At 31/12/2011 the Pipeline of potential sales stood at GBP529m (excluding GBP170m options on HYLAS 2). Analysts Daniel Stewart now have a figure of 2052p on AVN. | new tech
20/5/2012 00:31 | The company's first satellite, HYLAS 1, launched in November 2010, is the first superfast broadband satellite launched in Europe. Avanti's second satellite, called HYLAS 2, is fully funded and is scheduled for launch in the next few months. This satellite will extend Avanti's coverage to Africa and the Middle East. The third satellite, HYLAS 3, is currently in the design phase, but this is also fully funded to launch. =============== and company currently trading well below pre Hyas 1 launch.... | divinausa1
19/5/2012 22:09 | I don't think we should expect a mirror of the ramp up before the last launch as the economy is very different and there will be plenty of holders out there ready to sell when they hit break even at 4, 5, 6 etc having starred at a loss for so long. If there is a big ramp I know I'll be looking to sell at least half to lock in some profit in case it drifts down again and if enough people think that then it'll also limit the rise. Very happy to be holding this stock though - sure it'll get there but it's probably better in the long run that it doesn't get ahead of itself again. All IMO. | count chris
19/5/2012 11:53 | The big difference this year is Hylas 1 is up there in operation and the next results will give a better idea of what revenue it is bringing in and then with Hylas 2 up there as well the whole mood towards AVN should be different. | yorgi
19/5/2012 11:32 | I disagree. Euro turmoil aside, one would normally expect some run-up to, and particularly just after, a successful launch if only because the discount factors being applied in relation to timing and risk are removed. Put simply, a satellite in orbit is worth more than the same satellite in the design/build stage on the ground. | jeffian
19/5/2012 09:07 | That's very kind of you wilksey and I hope they're helpful - but they don't come with guarantees and others are right to be sceptical. I'll try and put some more 'thoughts' up over the weekend but don't have time right now. | johncsimpson
18/5/2012 21:01 | thanks john for showing your charts and interpretation on what occurring much appreciated, i to only hope it goes one way now and thats UP | wilksey1
18/5/2012 16:38 | Nugacity, I have not seen Hopping Hare but I shall keep my eye out for it I like to do my bit for Hall and Woodhouse :-) Are you from that part of the world ? Going back to more mundane matters AVN well i don't mind if it hangs around here a bit longer so I can dig some money out from elsewhere to add. | yorgi
18/5/2012 16:30 | yorgi, Hopping Hare is seasonal but is pretty good right now. It travels well to the Stour Inn, Blandford Forum which is hardly surprising because Usain Bolt could run between the pub and brewery in about 20 seconds. Seriously! Most SH pubs round here are not dog friendly - stops the Hen laying I guess? My buy looks ok so far - AVANTI COMMUNICATIONS GROUP PLC ORD 1P Bid 308p Offer 309.75p - cheers! | nugacity
18/5/2012 15:51 | Well done Nugacity.........and pint or two of Speckled Hen always slips down nicely. | yorgi
18/5/2012 15:49 | Bought @ £3.0411 so Hopping Hare fell a bit short of Speckled Hen but was very nice anyway. Blooming stamp duty - no wonder the Govt keep interest rate low! | nugacity
18/5/2012 15:28 | It bounced off a short term moving average (as it did yesterday) about fifteen minutes ago and is now back there again. Bit like expecting Man City to score twice in added time - no way could it happen. Or could it? It's possible peeps are 'selling out' over the weekend but I have to admit my usually reliable indicator seems not to have worked on this occasion and is now back from positive to neutral. | johncsimpson
18/5/2012 14:12 | Still under starters orders. Looked ready to move half an hour ago. Will take very little to move this now - hopefully up. | johncsimpson
18/5/2012 14:04 | I doubt it now New Tech if it is not dropping anything to speak of in this market I doubt we will go back that low. However if it does and I can free cash from elsewhere I shall add.......I would here if I had the cash free today as well. | yorgi
18/5/2012 13:52 | Perhaps it needs to test the lows around 250p again before launch of Hylas 2 as its not until next month. | new tech
18/5/2012 13:50 | Days like today are the time to add not sell if one has the cash free. There have been many analysts and brokers rating AVN with a share price far higher than where we are today. All is going well the only problem was too many believed the doubters last year and into the early part of this year and hence the share price is down where it is. I'm as confident today as I have always been that AVN will reward us well. | yorgi
18/5/2012 13:34 | Place yer bets - about to change IMO | johncsimpson
18/5/2012 12:09 | Just checked 3.05 and 3.1175 sell/buy which is a large spread. Anybody been able to read what the larger spreads mean? If it is very active the spread seems to be small - so is it trying to attract one end or the other? And which? An Old Speckled Hen will help ..... Mrs! Where are you :O) | nugacity
18/5/2012 12:05 | If you lose your typing on here - like I did on the last post - try the 'forward' button - somehow I did a 'back' button - totally blissful as to how! | nugacity
18/5/2012 12:03 | My money is still in the bank earning 3% - not bad for a current account? Still open minded whether we have embarked on a take off. We are taxiing down the runway approach but will we retreat to the hangars before getting the all clear? I hope colva is right but anything less than £3.10 is tempting for me. Off for a dog walk and pub lunch - do I enter a limit bid and at what level? Lunch would be sweet if it gets to £3 ........ hmmmm | nugacity
18/5/2012 11:29 | Bloomberg are saying the three brokers they monitor covering AVN are giving valuations averaging £16. | new tech |
