26/5/2011 16:01 | Sorry to see you go John and having to take a hit I hope you have better luck with your next buy :-) EDIT Oh I misread that see your still with us just closed your spread bet...... I still believe in the business and have no intention of selling but whether that may prove to be a mistake only time will tell. | ![]() yorgi
26/5/2011 15:56 | I have to admit defeat here. I've closed out of my Spread Bets for a loss of more than £3,500 I've still got a fair chunk in my SIPP but am left wondering if I should bite the bullet and close out that holding too? Crying shame, especially after being ahead so much. What do they say? Never let a profit turn into a loss! When will I ever learn. John | ![]() 2350220
26/5/2011 15:48 | Envi I spotted it too and hence the teddy throwing that followed. I don't trust iii at all. I'm not on my own. I speak without fear as a court case would highlight the issue and show them to be somewhat dubious imo. | ![]() superg1
26/5/2011 15:39 | FWIW Share Mags chartist does indeed have a possible price target of 26op-ish thats if it fails to hold above 376p.. TA vs FA.. | ![]() tsmith2
26/5/2011 14:52 | marksnsparkle - I have personally witnessed Interactive Investors efforts to perpetuate positive spin on a number of dubious shares and valuations a few years ago, so some of that story sounds plausible. I rather suspect its just a matter of time before they get caught out, probably by someone such as the FSA. | ![]() envirovision

26/5/2011 14:44 | No offence but Tom W was saying this was a strong buy at 700p levels all the way down to where it is now. So take it with a pinch of salt. | cartier81

26/5/2011 14:25 | Tom W has reiterated his strong buy recommendation today. He has put his money where his mouth is so he has a lot to lose if his judgement proves to be wrong. | ![]() standish11
26/5/2011 13:11 | Oh and befors omeone says liar Your attention is drawn to the fact that in respect of the Information Services, we, a connected company or some other person connected with us may have an interest, relationship or arrangement that is material in relation to the investment or transaction concerned or could give rise to a conflict of interest (for example, we could be arranging transactions on behalf of or in the name of any company involved in the transaction or we may hold a position in the investment or a related investment) and you agree that we shall not be required to disclose it to you and that there will be no obligation to account to you for any profit provided we do not contravene the FSA Rules in relation to the transaction. Quote 'We may hold a position in the investment' They don't have to tell us and can block any poster and remove posts without any prior warning or explanation. I challenged to blocking of me and connections with AVN. As you can see from the conflict of interest section they can do what they like, so any challenges of hype on a share they have an interest in, they can block the poster. It seems as simple as that and from mine and others experience a probability on AVN. It sort of proved my point about an AVN iii connection, but the last thing I thought was that it is legal. Such are disclaimers and the small print | ![]() superg1
26/5/2011 13:00 | Thanks Euro. I'm glad someone else has spotted the iii problem. A growing list of contacts saying the same. As for lies. I took my presumption from an iii post where the poster claimed such a connection between iii and AVN and things would be sorted. I have copies of various posts for my archives including the relevant one. 1 hour after the 'connection' post I could post no more. As for police if you read the terms and conditions correctly iii can can whatever bb they like and to their advantage it seems imo. | ![]() superg1

26/5/2011 12:51 | I posted on the other thread re the short tip. The article is below: "Markets prefer to travel than arrive, as it were, and I am intrigued to see how the peak in Avanti Communications' (AVN:AIM) shares can be seen to come just two weeks after its first successful satellite launch last November. The subsequent rapid descent bodes ill and I can see the decline continuing all the way down to 260p, a potential 36% gain on the downside for those brave enough to go short. Avanti provides satellite-based broadband services from its own 'birds' and brings the benefits of high-speed internet and telecoms to more isolated communities which struggle to achieve such connections by more conventional means. The 'futures' aspect of this company came to a close when its first satellite, aimed at covering Europe and part of the Middle East, was put into orbit in November. Within a fortnight the stock topped out at 735p. This is not a huge surprise. Broker guesstimates are invariably at their most optimistic ahead of such an event and once reality intervenes they often require a significant (downward) reassessment. Those who have been happy to chase the price higher as each bullish assessment arrives, invariably lose heart as it dawns that rewards will not be instant and start to dump stock into what then becomes a thin and one-way market. The consequences of this oft-repeated pattern are evident on Avanti's chart, as the speed of its rise is only mirrored by the rapidity of the descent. March saw an attempt to consolidate off previous support evident close to 430p, a move helped by the proximity of 445p and the 50% retracement level of the gains from 2009's 154p low. Yet this line gave way two weeks ago and as a result an early test of the 61.8% Fibonacci level at 376p should be expected. Should that threshold, coincident with the March 2010 bottom, fail to hold then the 78.6% threshold sits waiting at 278p, ahead of historic resistance and support in the 256p to 262p zone. Only a seemingly unlikely recovery back above 445p would give cause to reassess what appears to be the inescapable effects of 'reality' gravity." | ![]() rimmy2000
26/5/2011 12:23 | I notice that the poster who said he wasn't going to post again......has posted again....twice this morning. You've got to laugh. | ![]() sg31
26/5/2011 12:04 | The share price drop in Avanti I fear, will happen to lot of loss making shares when America stops it's quantitative easing program, next month and the easy money stops flowing into the markets. | plasterkay
26/5/2011 11:25 | I don't agree with DNFA on the other thread. BUT someone just posted this tipped as a short in this weeks Shares Magazine by The Chartist. Target 260p. So it may worth be checking out | ![]() superg1
25/5/2011 17:09 | Not sure I quite follow the 'level playing field' argument as the usp of satellite is surely that it reaches areas which simply aren't covered by alternatives, so any consumer who says "I ain't paying that!" to set-up costs simply has to go on doing without an internet connection at all! Presumably it's also open to the re-sellers to do deals to provide equipment. My own ISP provides free routers etc. if you sign up with them and look at the phone equipment mobile phone operators offer for 'free' to get you to take one of their usurious contracts! Frankly, it's a bit of a non-issue IMHO. | ![]() jeffian

25/5/2011 15:10 | I was thinking of opening a spreadbet short this morning with the reasoning it should thus cause the share to rise - my immense knowledge of charting didn't spot the double bottom triple jump backflip formation. | ![]() gekks |
