Schedule Confirmation

Avanti Communications Group plc (AIM: AVN), the broadband satellite operator, has today been notified by Arianespace of the potential (but not certainty) for several weeks of schedule slippage in relation to the readiness of the Soyuz launch at Kourou. Arianespace further confirmed that in accordance with the Launch Service Agreement it is ready to launch HYLAS 1 using an Ariane 5 vehicle if necessary which will ensure the launch will take place by end of September 2010 in accordance with the HYLAS 1 delivery schedule. The Ariane 5 is rated at the same low risk level by insurance underwriters in terms of reliability and quality. Therefore the potential for Soyuz slippage does not have an impact on HYLAS 1 launch schedule and no decision is required yet as to the selection of the launch vehicle.

---ENDS---

So Avanti announced a soyuz delay and that Arianespace were ready to launch Hylas using an Ariane 5 launcher. That RNS was on the 12th of May - 2 days before the Russian announcement on the 14th so how can you say that Avanti failed to inform the market.

As Blue forever says, they didn't use a Soyuz. In fact, the first Soyuz launch has been delayed so much it hasn't even taken place yet.

I thought that was the reason Avanti switched to an Ariane 5 rocket?

To answer your earlier question

'Do you have a link to the announcement by the Russians regarding the Soyuz delay.'

24th May 2010

For all the French players in the industry space, the year 2010 will end with a significant event: the launch of the first Russian rocket Soyuz from a shooting range created especially for her at the Guiana Space Center, on the Common Sinnamary, not far from Kourou. The date of the first flight was scheduled for 17 December. Yannick d'Escatha, President of CNES (Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales), has agreed to convey to readers of this launch. At its meeting in Kourou, last week, the advisory committee Soyuz decided that the first Russian rocket to leave the land of Guyana will be launched on December 17.

On 14 May Mr Anatoly Perminov, head of the Russian space agency Roskosmos, Sergey Ivanov, Russian Deputy Prime Minister and Beglov Alexander, deputy chief of the administration of President Medvedev, announced the Soyuz launch date as December 17th (a delay of 3 months from September)

So are you telling me us mere mortals knew this but Avanti didn't ???.

I have an ever growing archive of info.

codhead1,

"Say what you like, so far , he has called it spot on guys."

Re your comment - the share price has indeed fallen, SC will no doubt have made a pound or two. However what remains to be seen is whether his rationale and argument for the fall in share price have any basis in fact. SC will not care whether his arguments prove to be right - they have had the desired effect so far.

All quite true Jonnib.

I know some of the negative/short posters come up with ridiculous point that they are just trying to warn people of the danger of investing in AVN or giving a balanced view is quite frankly rubbish. They are purely trying to add more profit to their shorts, with the truth, facts, or investors financial health of no concern to them. They continue to post untruths, lies and works of fiction to boost their profits.

What can't be denied is they have been successful so far. Many a crook has lived a very good life on the proceeds of crime for many years, quite possibly better than many honest hard working people. Does that make them right, to be admired or respected ?

its no coincidence at all these names appearing all at once (again) to short the stock. Anyone new to the thread spend a little time going back over the last few weeks of posts and you will see the same people deramping over and over again. Every negative post has been answered in full everytime so they leave it a week or so and start up with the same ill informed statements designed purely to put people off. The only way to deal with them is for nobody to respond in a negative way just continue to put them right.

I think you will find s.c. is getting all the exercise he needs counting all that profits he is amassing as AVN continues its slide. If only we all had a wallet as heavy as Simons to carry around we would all be a few pounds lighter..........as opposed to a few £s. Say what you like, so far , he has called it spot on guys.We await the support level.

Interesting to see a number of newish posters (SC aside) of ,shall we say, a rather negative viewpoint re AVN.

Of course as a shareholder I am indebted to these industrious and charitable souls for pointing out the potential pitfalls of my investment. I know SC has a vested interest in seeing the AVN Share price fall (much as I wish to see it rise) so I understand his posts in that light. I also understand that holders can be extremely bullish due to thier vested interest. Then there are those who ,it would appear, spend time researching a company and posting arguments merely from a spirit of brotherhood - to help thier fellow investors see the error of thier ways and minimise thier losses.A heartfelt thanks.

So whilst I do appreciate the efforts to make me ponder and ruminate over potential future competition, inflated valuation, flawed business plan, possible delays to Hylas 2, possible funding issues for Hylas 3, current market sentiment, the time of year and no doubt a plethora of other issues( past ,future and present)- I hope you will of course forgive any scepticism that I display.

P.S.
I do recogonise that this share is not without risk.

P.P.S.
I remain confident in AVN

Yes you will colva I'm waiting for the guy with the exact details to reply. If not I'll find it myself. It's all to do with the russians announcing the delay well before AVN mention it.

Factors from the cheap seats that will make it extremely difficult for this stock to break out of this downward spiral:

- Jam tomorrow: whilst the tech is sound indeed is performing beyond expectations as we all know meaningful revenues remain some way off
- Uncertainty: the freeing up of terrestrial frequencies will present a potentially cheaper remote location (non-fixed line) alternative to expensive satellite deployments
- Falling knife: new money (support) will be reluctant to bet against the technicals, support appears to have broken down
- Valuation: There remains considerable goodwill in the current share price Notwithstanding their technology Avanti has a long way to go before it can warrant such a gilt-edged valuation
- That time of year: We're now well into the 'silly season' the quiet summer months will do the share price no favours at all and the macro-econ climate esp in EU and NAM isn't going to get better any time soon...

Leave alone until late summer. By then I'd expect the share price to start with a £3 - possibly a £2.
