check out the news today thatbroadband access will become a universal obligation funded bu a government fund. . Surely Avanti is the only company that can deliver this ????????????????????????

Interesting snippet which gives an insight into the price at which Avanti is selling capacity. 3,048 MHZ per month is significantly in excess of the Equity Development best case of 2,200MHZ per month on which its best case valuation of £8.00 per share is based.

[Satellite Today 01-12-09] Avanti Communications won two supply contracts valued at a combined $1.8 million, the company announced Jan. 9.

Avanti will supply wholesale broadband services to the Polish company Computex Telecommunications at a minimum order value of $152000, a price equivalent to more than $3,048 per megahertz per month.

Avanti also will supply remote broadband services in Northern Ireland to the U.K. Department of Enterprise Trade and Investment. The contract value to Avanti is $1.7 million, which covers the costs of installing and managing network infrastructure, with end user customers paying monthly subscription charges worth about $686,000 per year.

Avanti will deploy services immediately using its rented capacity, migrating customers to its new satellite, Hylas, upon launch.

Note the launch schedule on . As a very very crude approach you can see Avanti are down as the third of six 2009 launches, and we've read elsewhere that the hardware is due to be handed over from manufacturing in ?March/April09, so this bird might be flying by summer 09. But of course there are many possible reasons for delay so its a we'll believe it when we see it sort of game.

I'll be in Florida in mid-Feb 09 and I had hoped to see myself the bird take off then, but that now seems very unlikely. I visited Cape Canaveral last year, and it's exciting to see the SpaceX rocket pictures from there.

the falcon 9 is the rocket avn have chosen and thanks to space geeks the launch date will be posted by them first ----- for example

how is falcon 9 today?

in fact the point is there are a few rocket options so the launch dates will be known before avn announce

It was interesting that Williams mentioned that they have a number of rocket options in the recent CNBC interview. I wonder if this does give them flexibility to launch in 2H 09 regardless of how SpaceX perform?

undertaker i dont just look at avn for the launch dates but go to the rocket sites themselves who of cause have to plan their launch dates before avn

true headshok but got my money in other stocks which will move quicker than avn for now, but when i do pile in two months before launch it will be for the long term

ps - it reminds me a bit of corac a great company but low share price and treading water till trial starts in 3Q 2009 - i am waiting for june on that one
