Although these share price levels have been seen after the potential bid developments, one wonders if this is an opportunity to add or bid farewell?

Absolutely, and yesterday it was mentioned that the UK and various local authorities were not yet complying with specific regulatory requirements on certain waste disposal and were in breach of EU law.

Under an EU law coming into effect, by 2012 the UK will have to recycle 12.5% of all portable domestic batteries sold, rising to 20% by 2016. Currently only 3% is recycled.

A few big trades going through at 95p....what it means...have no idea! However, in view of the almost simultaneous action (timing within a few seconds for all three trades), it is likely to be a simple portfolio switch within one institution.

Agree azalea...Hazardous waste at their landfill operations up in first 2 months of the 2H by over 400%....appears that they have got their act together in a big way. Like the fact that they are in an offer period and this latest news with other positive indications is being given way after One51 decided to make their initial approach. With others in the frame there is some hope that an offer of one sort or another will prevail...but looks promising even if the latter fails to meet price acceptable to a number of large holders who are key.

that's a very strong profit forecast for H2 and a signal to any potential bidder.

Agree azalea....appears that the MM's want sells and not buys at the moment. Whatever, the free float is quite small and subject to volatility. Again One51 were interested in possibly offering all cash on 28/8, and doubt that recent market turbulance would detract them from taking a strategic/longer term view with AUG being in a strong position with regulatory authorities and more recent technical link-ups.

H2 should be very good and therefore a hold even regardless of a potential bid. If the latter is to be made then now is the time.

Good results and going forward looks encouraging....suspect that serious bidders will now have the full benefit of the released numbers and that any negotiations can be conducted more openly. Still believe that One51 are in the driving seat and maybe a full cash offer of around 120p will be made. A good time for the latter to advance their circa 27% interest with knowledge of improved prospects. The key issue is that the unsolicited approaches were made before the company announced its internal strategic review, and realignment of resources etc. Cash generation is very strong and from comments made with todays release should grow more rapidly with further benefit of new contracts being finalised. Finally, the major holders hold the key as to whether they would prefer an exit now with a reasonable offer...so it is their hands as to whether roughly 120p is acceptable or not under current market conditions.

I know. Depressing times, I guess people see a gain and sell out to offset the losses they have probably got scattered across their portfolios (banks etc).
Aug has a unique market position and is regulatory driven. Hopefully the inherent value will out.

Thanks for that. I see sellers are so desperate that they are now selling despite AUG having received an approach.

Funny that those trades executed by Landsbanki on 11th as per today's RNS are not shown on advfn? Must have been some offset arrangement, maybe!!!

MM are moving this up rapidly on a mere modicom of buying. Perhaps next week we might hear of an actual offer price.

Take a look at the after hours RNS...explains a lot...GAM International Mgmt. Ltd appear to have taken out part of the GS holding on 28/8, with Relevant Secs. of 1,137,907 and derivitives of 3,767,882, on the Long side ..total 7.53%. Also with the transaction also on 28/8 they were the counterparty with Invesco whereby the latter bought 750,000 shares at 103p...GAM are shown tonight as the CFD party for the 750,000 SOLD at 1.02691. All very interesting....dyor and draw your own conclusion!!! Very Irish.....

A bid of 125p looks the best one can expect initially from One51 which is the book value...makes sense although the earnings/cash generation potential of AUG has probably improved. However, in the current climate the large minority holders may well be inclined to take an offer close to 125p. This would represent a fair/good deal for One51, as the waste/clearance etc. business is one that is outside the risk area of other sectors, and a pretty safe move at this time...good timing to act sooner rather than wait a year or so...all imho/dyor.

So now we have Henderson's 20,525 swapped with Invesco at 98p as of yesterday...taken from the respective RNS announcements today...all a bit silly, but never mind.

Agree that it was in the AUG rns dated 26/8 that they mentioned a number of approaches and possible offers at a "significant premium" to the then share price (about 75p, I think). The caveat was that there could be no guarantee that a formal offer would be made/completed. However, it would suggest that a purchase price had been indicated by one or more parties to AUG management.

Buy the tone of AUG'S statement they seem keen on a deal.

Not in the RNS and nor do they have to.
But there must be a price so that they can state that it is at a significant premium to current.
IMHO I think us PI`S will have no say in the outcome and would not be surprised if this is already agreed.

Some indication of price or value of the co to take it private had to be mentioned or why would they suggest a significant premium.Next week should see a formal bid.
