A fair analysis. Lets see if the major holders stick with it and what(if anything) 151 Ltd might do, now that the decks are cleared. There apppears to be significant emphasis on the need for both customers and disposal companies to comply with tightening regulations.

A quick reading of the results indicates to me nothing to drive the price down but not much to drive it up either.their forecast of steady further progress sums it up..as they say good cash flow but still ongoing capex requirements and acquisition..but they are right to say they have borrowing capacity so will not need to raise fresh funds.

Next week's FY results should provide a much clearer picture of where AUG stands after its ups and down with two new CEO and recent acquisitions. Regardless, I shall continue to hold as we might see 151 Ltd, take some action on its major stake which is currently standing on a loss of circa 40%. The overall holding by institutions ise very high any bid will be well in excess of the current price.

A 10% fall on sales of a mere 95k. It will be interesting to see how quickly the share price recovers this time.

I think 2008 will be a defining year for AUG and expect to see developments after FY results in March.

Comment: Lynch keeps a close eye firmly on the NTR road
27 January 2008
Philip Lynch is one man who will be watching developments at NTR very closely.

Lynch's One51 has a 26 per cent stake in NTR, so he will be anxious to see just how much money the board of NTR decides to return to its shareholders after collecting around €840 million from the sale of Airtricity.

Unfortunately for Lynch, he never sought board representation when he bought up a 26 per cent stake in the company, so he won't have his own person at the NTR board table saying the company should hand over a sizable chunk of that cash to shareholders.

Lynch has been on the acquisition trail over the last two years and has continued to snap up acquisitions. One51 has bought up several smaller companies in Ireland and Britain in the waste management/recycling sector and is in talks to buy more.

The problem is that with Airtricity sold, this is the same sector that NTR subsidiary Greenstar is chasing. One51 was named in court last week has having tried to buy the Limerick waste management company, Mr Bin Man. The deal didn't come off and it may even be one that Greenstar will look to acquire.

Either way, NTR may be conscious of writing a very large cheque to a major shareholder who could then use the money to compete against Greenstar in the bid to consolidate the waste management sector both here and in Britain.One51 sources say it doesn't need the cash and is well funded.

It has been suggested that NTR may return between €250million and €400 million to shareholders. This would put One51 in line for between €62 million and €100 million in cash

One51 buys two English recycling firms

Investment group One51 has bought two recycling companies in the northwest of England, as it continues to build up its portfolio of waste management and recycling businesses.

The group, which is run by Philip Lynch, is in discussions to acquire several other businesses in Ireland, Britain and the US. One51 has purchased Howarth Metals – which is based in Manchester – and a sister company called Howcan.

Howarth has been involved in the metal business for many years, but only recently got involved in recycling waste metal. The purchase price for both companies is believed to be several million euro. Last October, Howarth announced plans to turn a derelict site in Manchester into a recycling plant.

Harrogate - With regard to your question on the void space Augean hold at Port Clarence (PC) and Kings Cliffe (KC).

PC has approx 7m tonnes of void space, of which the Company has allocated 2m tonnes to hazardous and could, if it wished allocate all the void to hazardous. KC has approx 750k – 1m tonnes of void space for hazardous waste. You could imagine over time that the Company will fill the void space, however both sites have planning restrictions. The main one being that the planning runs out in 2013. So both sites would have to reapply for permission to continue, this is not straight forward as many applications of this nature are turned down

I agree with Datasharp to a certain degree with Augean's current strategy in buying hazardous treatment companies. However, the liability of the >£100m spent on landfill leaves them a lot to do plus they have to buy the right treatment companies, so far I don't believe they have.

The EA have recently reseased new hazardous waste figures, which show a decrease on Hazardous landfill volumes.

The preclose update - especially on regulatory matters (yet to bite in its favour)was a fair summary. A few pence either way are of no consequence in relations to longer term prospects for the company and the intentions of 151 Ltd. A buy of 25k @ 96.5p is interesting.

Thanks for the post - Are you saying that in terms of HW capacity that AUG actually do have a serious market position but that because operationally they are poor they are being beaten to the low volumes of HW currently requiring a home by other operators who are better BUT that as volumes increase through legislation AUG HAVE to be used because they have the capacity

I am trying to get a handle on whether their expensive holes in the ground are ever going to be reflected in the share price

Would appreciate your thoughts

Not posted on this thread before but own a reasonably large company in the sector - the management may have not performed financially and have certainly over paid for a number of aquisitions.

However, where the value will be is there position in the market in 12 months time and further downstream as more regulations come into effect , there aggresive aquisition trail will eventually pay off in a big way.

I wouldnt be surprised for some one to take them out in the near future.

Their concept is the right one , what they havent got is key people who can make things happen and the figures will always not look good when you are on such an aggressive aquisition trail.

My 2p

Azalea - You obviously don't read the threads because I have already outlined my position. Do you know what hazardous waste is !!!

Hi azalea,

The IC have been advising readers to buy property shares during 2007 - which have now almost halved!!

The IC have constantly called AUG incorrectly.

I think you will find more wisdom on this thread than in the IC!!!!

Adios..

Don't tell me they are now vapourising all solid waste. Whilst I speak to WRG, perhaps you should speak to the editor of the IC and suggest its analysts are misleading if not lying to its readers.

I forgot to ask, are you holders, previously sellers, or, just observers?

Azalea - You keep missing the point, its does not matter if Augean had three times the void (I don't think they have double either, look at WRG). Companies are using alternative methods of disposal.
The best thing you could do if you really want to understand this market is speak with WRG. It would be wrong to give you the persons name but they have a leading expert on this subject and it wouldnt be hard to track him down.
