Had a few bob in AHT Ashtead as per yesterdays notes/post. Forward P/E to 2019 of just over 16 looks cheap to me.

Not sure whether we are 'there' yet, but I've just sold 10% of my diminishing number of shares at £23.68, to take some risk off the table.

Could be tempted to buy back if there is a significant correction in due course.

My faith in AHT remains undiminished, still a 'long' at heart with a residual holding..

Yes being of a compassionate nature, we decided 'hung, drawn and quartered' was a bit too cruel! :-)

For the 'longs', good to see AHT hung on to it's rise of approximately 3% this week, despite apparent headwinds..

2400 I'll be out, and possibly shorting. Now seems a bit early, but I can't pretend to be chart literate, that's based more on a fundamentals approach and assumes no significant new information..

You may well be correct about the price action AHT does like to confound us shorters but I am still holding to my 'stretched' view. I can see my epithet 'He thought it was stretched but alas poor bracke was compressed'.

When I opened my short it was with a small stake so no great pain being felt. My intention was/is to add to the trade when it started moving in my direction.

You may remember when I posted the last chart I said that the red declining PF was not confirmed, I chose to take a 'flyer' which is always a risk and true to AHT tradition it has refused to comply but as a minimum it is overdue for a retrace.

Hopefully clarky is ok and living well off his AHT profits. I think rescuer knew him well perhaps he can enlighten us.

Hi bracke,

I'm getting a distinct "Déjà Vu" feeling about the current price action, hopefully I am wrong, but I would urge caution... AHT has risen to unforseen heights with 'no visible means of support' before!

On another matter, I believe one of the mainstays of our board, clarky5150 has not posted anything anywhere since February, I do hope everything is ok?

Come 19th June (full year results day) this will be trading well over £25. Remember the Q3 results numbers?? “For the first nine months of the year, rental revenue increased a healthy 21% and operating profit climbed 22%. Free cash flow jumped from £68m to £179m, and earnings per share on an underlying basis rose an impressive 30% to 102.4p.”

Barring a 'black swan' to sent the share price soaring through 2300 I suspect it is close to a turn. Am I whistling in the dark....maybe but the Weekly chart appears to be heading for an MACD 3 Push. Such a pattern does not guarantee success but it increases the probability.

Not adding just yet.

Recent price action has confirmed to me that shorting AHT is not for the faint hearted, but it is certainly instructive to watch from the sidelines!

I also considered adding last evening but decided to wait until this morning to watch the price action. So far it has not moved much and as I will be out for a large part of the day I will wait before adding.
