i think My Powell is looking at the US through rose tinted glasses..

We've a hell of a long way to go yet.. they ought to have hiked higher, both across the pond and here in Blighty..

yesterdays and todays increases are nowhere near enough..

expect more in the coming months.

sometimes i wonder if these "folk in charge" can actually join up the dots..

Covid economic wave has only just started
Ukraine and Russia will drag on and most probably escalate.
whats looking like the 4th consecutive year for La Nina (never before have we had 4 years of La Nina.
3rd of the southern hemisphere under water - so limited production there.
Cost of energy through the roof
Interest rates on a march.
450m folk currently in transit

we needed a bigger more severe hike... guess we'll just bump from one pillar to another post for the next 2 years then.. whilst Powell and Bailey cross their fingers.

bring on the Autumn statement, because that's going to be full of joy... NOT..

Good day disc0

"on the ball" is not a term I would use in relation to the FED. If you remember it's not so long ago Mr Powell was saying inflation was "transitory". Now he is saying the level of rate increases will probably have to go higher and last longer than expected. When the amount of data the FED have and still are unable to get it right it does not fill one with confidence.

Thanks Mr b for your TA

Doesn’t take a lot to confuse me, but when the FED said they will now take into account the cumulative impact and the lags (amongst other things), I nearly choked on a Winalot biscuit, there was me thinking they were already doing this and they are on the ball - clearly not!…..so how can Powell then say there is more to do to tackle inflation…..pick a number, any number that will do!.

Mr Powell did not assist the cause so resistance at 4716 held. The share price has retraced back to the upper line of the ascending wedge. There are two gaps to fill 4550 and 4720.

All things considered the share price has held up well so far.

Will there be sufficient buyers to take it back to try and break resistance at 4716 or will it drop back into the wedge?

Tradingview charts have a good range of indicators and some of the scripts are interesting.

Pleased you got out without loss. Your fib worked.

It closed back on resistance at 4716. We await Mr Powell and AHT share price reaction tomorrow.

AHT share price has a habit of disappointing shorters as I know to my cost!

I use the free version of Tradingview. Also use MT4 charts with IG, they are also free.

Looked at your chart Bracke,, pretty much identical to mine, including the trend lines.

wasn;t sure on taking it to the full 12 months, as Ukraine had a bearing on things from mid January..

anyways on course to make my second Fib loss, from 24 trades.

the previous time was AHT.. ha ha.. think i best leave my darling of a company alone.

oh how life has changed for them since i worked for AHT in the 90's..

How much does you chart company charge for the month / year Bracke.. I still use advfn charts and they're not great, also use my IG charts, but again not easy to nav around..

I think you low of 3429 on 22nnd June is incorrect it should be 3290.

I have redrawn the fib to give 50% at 4787 so you were slightly early.

I suspect the fate of your short rests in the content of Mr Powell's statement.

Good luck.

On the chart below the red fibs are, I think, what you are using. Please say if not.

If I am correct I can't see what has prompted your short. Notwithstanding the RSI.

12 month Bracke.. (used the high on 22nd Jan as my starting point as the 50 period MA was on decline). (finish date was the low 22nd June).

RSI 14 is also approaching over bought

letting it ride another few points, in loss at present..

if no reversal, then it's a close from me..

Thanks for the link.

It does pose the question at what point would the rate increases affect the unaffected sectors. Time or rather rate increases will tell.

The market reaction to the Jobs Report is muted ....so far. I presume the main interest is on Mr Powell's statement later.

Mr b"US Jobs Report 239k !"The article below has an interesting comment which touches on sector specific impacts of the FED's hikes, as per our discussion:ADP Chief Economist said:"Goods producers, which are sensitive to interest rates, are pulling back, and job changers are commanding smaller pay gains. While we're seeing early signs of FED driven demand destruction, it's affecting only certain sectors of the labor market"Https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2022/11/02/adp-jobs-report-october-2022.html

Good day disc0

"does it not have to consolidate above 4716 before tackling any further upside targets?"
================================================================================

It doesn't have to. Sometimes it will, sometimes not. Sometimes it will gap through, sometimes it will 'zoom' through (a large candle that takes it straight over), sometimes it will consolidate, sometimes it will retrace before trying again.

When Mr Powell speaks later today if he indicates a slowing or easing of rate increases that would probably provide a 'zoom' through.

Yes I agree market logic is sometimes opaque.
