Gold testing the lower support level again. What happened to those heady days of $2000+ and on it's way much higher.

Just shows nothing can be taken for granted in this market 🙄

It seems likely that it's Ariana carrying retained losses rather than Zenit which has already paid dividends to Ariana. So, UK at a guess....

Biggles, why would these court hearings be taking place in Turkey for a UK registered company?

My own feeling is that its sellers who dont want the dividend for tax reasons. Tax is a complicated subject but my understanding is you only need approx 200000 shares here (a dividend of £2000) not in a SIPP to start to be eligible for tax. Is that right? If so, there must be plenty of holders in that situation. Personally I feel the special dividend is a waste of time and a distraction.

As for news I think it highly probable we'll get the Tavsan EIA and Eastern Europe investment news in March.

2vdm - personally I suspect it is that there are, on occasion, more sellers than buyers, but not necessarily a single seller. Investors with agendas that don't align with more long-term thinking.

I keep seeing comments about a "big seller...waiting for them to clear". Is their any evidence of that? Gold not doing well at the moment but I'll continue to hold here as the story looks good, although be good to get some newsflow.

I feel Erodogan in what ever light you wish to see him wants to stay on power. That generally means balance, especially when you are the gateway to Europe. He's in a very comfortable position, if his goals are wealth and power he won't want to rock the boat. He's playing his game wonderfully. This is in no support of anything he does just an outsider view. Turkey will be a major player in the world going forward and I give very little credence to the internal political view. My only concern would be a mis step with the US but then I then feel other powers would back Turkey as they are so instrumental. Not often I venture into the politics but I feel the Greece/Turkey situation is a nothing issue in a sea of insanity in the investing world. Although I would suggest spying your own research.

You are right to be concerned Littlebrug, especially as Cyprus could be in the middle of all this. A real turn-off to potential investors imho.

As I said at the time, I reinvested my divi in AAU as soon as it was announced, presuming it would arrive in a matter of days/weeks LOL.
I've always believed that Turkish politics is having a big negative effect on share price I for one, sold out when Erdogan occupied part of Syria, only to buy back weeks later when I realised the sky wasn't going fall in. Erdogan is a loose cannon and could yet wreck our plans.

Well we certainly need our seller to clear before anything moves. Shame really, with so many other stocks taking flight right now. For a company so poised to deliver shareholder value, the PR is absolutely shocking.

This is a way of rewarding loyal investors who have built up large shareholding without them having to sell to capitalise. This divi will be reinvested by many. However paying the divi means the path is open for future regular dividends
