Hope that nothing happens in Turkey/Cyprus to upset the applecart. Emperor Erdogan might be getting just a little bit too big for his boots, with delusional visions of aping illustrious predecessors, whilst of course, letting the economy crumble, partly on account of his overseas adventurism.

This could indirectly be affecting AAU, and nobody really knows how much politics is influencing the mining delay, though doubtless there are far more informed people here.

I watch all of the comments with interest on this board, and to add to the comments of iron storm / paul.

The debate a year ago was healthy between support or non support of the JV with the advocates against the deal talking about the rising price of gold and not wanting dilution. A year on the debt has been paid down and the delay in concluding the JV will give a significant rise in profits for this financial year.

The company stands in such a strong position and although we continue to trade between 5-6p waiting for the conclusion each trade supports a base at a higher entry level with aspirations for greater growth.

I have too much share of my portfolio in this share but have continued to add as I believe with each piece of news through the year on fundamentals we become de risked.

Maybe we will look back on the frustrating delay and smile with a fine glass of wine and reflect it was no bad thing,
I remain a firm hold buying on weakness

Turkey, under a brand new central bank governor, hiked its policy (one-week repo auction rate) by a whopping 475bps to 15%, right on top of estimates.

what I wonder how "efficiently" is AAU getting paid for its gold sales what is the currency export cost and exchange rate P#L atm

Paul a very good point.

All the talk of the deal and I almost forgot that the current JV must be throwing cash in our direction at regular intervals as well as building up cash reserves.

Nice

I've recently emailed the company with no reply to my questions which I hope/assume to mean news is imminent. Drawing at straws or not I've run my figures albeit as an inexperienced investor and a mid term price of 15p seems more than reasonable. Lots going on in the world but if i've learnt anything sticking with a company I know inside and out, with management who I believe I can trust will bring the best results. I hope we all end up in the green at the end of all the current adjustments and believe all assets could possibly rise for a while....long term I will stick with a growth company in a resource that can't be duplicated.GLA

I never know more than anyone else on this board but based on what they have said in public I would be disappointed if circular not out by end November. As I have said previously if government haven't done their bits so what it can still go to shareholders subject to government doing their bit.

It looks like another buying opportunity presenting itself at this price. The profits must be pouring into the bank account right now. Silence is golden they say.

Well I'm not currently buying any AAU apparel, so I have no chance of winning the coveted polo shirt. But I will definitely be in the 'got the t-shirt' camp if this damn deal gets finalised.

I still think the winner of the Polo shirt announcement could come first. Got to get the big news out of the way first. Difficult to concentrate on mere £35m buy-ins when you have your shareholders or tender hooks for the winner to be named. Either that or it is another holiday season at Ariana. But then after share transactions by directors isn't that suppose to indicate a no news period. But I'm expecting the numbers next week and the JV Agreement by end of November. But who knows.

Soulsauce,

It's a manifestation of the half full / half empty syndrome. To some, it is merely 359 days since the MoU. To others, it is a week short of a year.

Quarterly ops update was on the 22nd Nov last year, presumably we can expect similar timings this year? I don't expect it will do much for the share price in the current climate, but it would be good right now to have something else to digest :-)

And given the current rate of progress the date of the general meeting should be some time around Christmas if I am not mistaken. Plenty of time to watch the share price weaken and buy on the dips.
