On second thoughts if it goes into April it gives the opportunity to move more into an ISA.

Would not be surprised Plas. Although I hope it coincides with the next leg of the PM bull. Either of those things happening should help us make headway again soon enough. What's another few months he says with a grimace.

I think if we get the divi in this financial year (in the UK) it will be a bonus but not holding my breath.

Plasybryn I have been of that mind since the last update. I think it will be the new year now and probably well in to the spring before we get the divvy.
It would be nice to be surprised but not holding my breath.

Given they will need/want to give shareholders around 3 weeks to fully assimilate the J.V. Agreement document before the virtual General Meeting which will be held to ratify it, they are running out of time if they want it done and dusted pre Xmas. I can't see them holding the General Meeting very close to Christmas. So if we don't get the Agreement this week, I reckon it will be after Xmas for the General Meeting. I hoping we will therefore get it over the next few days. Normally with these sorts of transformational events, the value would be "priced-in", but in my opinion that isn't the case due to the 9/10 months of slippage. So an announcement this week, confirming the cash injection and the special dividend are confirmed, I see a 30% re-rate to circa. 7.5p. Just my opinion of course.

my thoughts and experience as well -corrientes - in the short term - long term the majority on this BB is right

BB you pushed me to argument my self the other day - and my argument for the JV delay is prohibitive cost of borroving - which is one of the pillars of the JV

I had good intention in discussing it and to make people alert to this issue - and I was in hope to get a clear cut answer together

I was and I am naive

so I just checked and the first hit was

it got worse since then

I am just trying to find the reason for the delay and for the SP/results/charts delta

as for myself the jurisdiction and its finances in general are the problem atm I must watch this factor - before buying more

So who would anyone with a shred of understanding company finances listen to, corrientes or Nigel Somerville?
I won't post the full article, I think NS's ongoing coverage (sometimes irritating) of AAU deserves paying the small subscription so someuwin's sample above sums up where we are now.

Ariana Resources – Stonking Q3 Numbers

BY NIGEL SOMERVILLE, THE DEPUTY SHERIFF OF AIM

We have more good news this morning from AIM-listed Turkish gold-miner Ariana Resources (AAU) in the form of the Q3 numbers from the Kiziltepe joint venture. The Gold price may still be in a correction, but Ariana’s shares are showing some strength and it is not hard to see why...

Rest of article

...Pro tem, with the shares sitting at 5.35p and at up to 5.5p, I am sticking with my BUY stance, with a short term target of 7.5p. But with all the ducks lined up in the gold market for another bull-run, I still think 10p is very possible and if Kerim Sener and his team continue to perform, there will be yet more upside to come.

Of course, it's natural that a small number of obvious super bulls are going to deride anyone who dares to criticise their beloved. That's blindingly obvious. As I said, we'll see, but admit that I don't have a fortune tied up here, like some appear to have.

For those relatively new to this board, BB’s last comment about being more right than wrong could be interpreted as a bit of a brag. Except he’s underplaying his hand. He’s often very right. Corrientes is not in my view a subtle de-tamper: Over his last few, consistent contributions it has become blindingly obvious.

I've always got the impression he/she derails in a subtle manner and had them as a shorter. May be wrong but doesn't really matter . What will be here will be .

AAU will rerate on JV conclusion. One thing you learn and that is that cash is king!!! By reducing future revenue stream for $35m will have several effects. It gives immediate reward via dividend , it brings a powerhouse on board but it means we become more of an exploration play with Salinbas and Cyprus to name two with cash to explore other areas. Traditionally explorer's correlation to the immediate commodity price is less than large producers. So I see a rerate to 7-8p, consolidation as the dividend plays out and 10p plus as the positive exploration results (which is Kerims area of expertise) come in. Obviously DYOR but I'm please to say I've been right more often than wrong when it comes to Ariana.

I certainly wouldn't describe this as twaddle. Whilst I tend to agree that improved profits will ultimately lead to higher share prices (although it is by no means as straightforward as that), sector sentiment will influence the price of all shares in that sector. Short term the gold sentiment has turned down and this will dampen enthusiasm for all constituents although some will perform better than others.

The price is clearly pined down by the uncertainty of the JV deal going through, this will have a great re-rate once everything is clear for investors. Uncertainty is always going to kill the drive of the share price. IF you don't think it will get to near true value why invest in AAU? Seems odd thing to say Corrientes? Are you pinning hopes on the gold price moving up again with more stimulus?

Sorry, but previous experience tells me it's often otherwise and not 'twaddle'. We'll see ! Here, with all this good news to come, I'd have expected the last few months to have shown a gradual increase in anticipation, but.......?

Corrie - what a load of twaddle. If a company makes more profit it's share price should rise, regardless of the sector or commodity.

I don't see a trigger to reignite gold in the short term. Therefore no matter what good news comes out of AAU, it will have little impact on the share value. The price should increase when an external event causes gold to reverse its trend. Just my opinion, but if the hot money's not there, I just see a continuation of what we have today. Hope I'm wrong, but have seen this type of situation so many times when the basic commodity is in the doldrums.
