Cyberbub,

I did the same. Bought £20k of ASOS back around 2002 at 5p having watched them move up from 2p. I sold them for a £20k profit at 10p and thought I had done well for myself.

Like you say, several years later they were 70 quid a share. I would have made millions had I held. That one always hurts.

Ironically I put my £20k profit in to some aim garbage at the time and proceeded to loose the lot 🤦‍a94;️🤷‍♂ᥧ9;

It's my view and I'm both . I'm in a similar situation to you but I intend to see this out. All I can say is I'm very comfortable here and until that changes I'll stay . I do believe KS and MDV believe in what's under salinbas and I want that ride! It makes me excited thinking about it. I've been fortunate enough to see the operation and their enthusiasm regarding salinbas and this doesn't always show in presentations or interviews.

Paul280, the closing price is usually determined by the UT trade after close, rather than being split directly down the middle. Sometimes it's above, sometimes it's below the mid price.

The worst one I heard of was shares commentator Paul Scott who bought 200k of ASC way back when it was 3p, he sold at 10p thinking he'd done very nicely. Ten years later it was 7000p.

And as a result, I'm probably going to implement the strategy of selling half every time a share doubles. That way it allows you to not go through these situations selling up at an early stage

I held the following:AHT at 120 and it then went to about 3000 - made £200 selling at 135GAW 300 and now about 8000 - made £500 selling at 500And recently EUA - made 1500 selling at 3.5p now 18ishIt hurts but the positive thing is these opportunities exist

Cheers Soulsauce & Paul 280i, we appear to all be sharing similar experiences. My ‘minor’ predicament is that I bought 1m shares of AAU at 0.7p for just over £7k, and nothing else. Small potatoes right?

Not so much at 4.5p, and as it continues to rise my need to put some of this into another quality share becomes more pressing. However, I’ve a stupidly high risk tolerance and I can see clearly what’s happening here at AAU.

I’m waiting for the JV, divi and results etc, at which point this has to hit at least somewhere near fair, if not full value. With Some relief, I’ll then move some of this out, if even into physical, while I patiently choose a suitable home for the balance.

As certain as you are, when you’ve got all of your eggs in one basket, your stomach slowly begins to tighten as the months and years pass. It demands some intestinal fortitude that’s for sure.

And yes Paul280i, 95% chance I wouldn’t have held GGP to it’s current level. I’d have sold out and be kicking myself now anyway.

All part and parcel of this game and just needs to be consigned to the mental dustbin. ‘If if’s and but’s were paper cups’ etc (whatever that means!)

cyber .. really sorry to hear you got scared out of AAZ back in 2015.
No wish to rub it in but, as a lesson for others, had you kept hold of those shares they would have not only increased by 25-fold but, the dividends received to date (11.8755p) would have virtually twice over returned your purchase price.
Not sure how you do such a yield calculation but, it's a big %.

Could someone explain. London Stock exchange shows a spread of 4.5/4.75 but a mid price of 4.6. What happens to the odd .25 or has arithmetic change sine I was at school?

Cyber - let's hope this one takes a leaf from the AAZ book. Would be nice, and possible, especially if Kerim's nose for gold is correct.

Yes I know about the 'one that got away' dilemma all too well, I imagine every investor has one or more.My worst sob story is that I bought 700k shares in AAZ at 6p because there was a long term big seller in Russia (who was hidden and not declaring his holding via RNS) who had forced the price down for many months, to miles below fair value. Unfortunately he still had plenty to sell and was being helped by a UK broker who was dumping heavily, again without declaring. I was having a hard time in my personal life and becoming a bit obsessed with the share, and when it spiked below 4p I panicked and sold out at a loss. Of course with hindsight it was the final dump, and the share price immediately rebounded to 6p and started climbing steadily from there. I kept watching it, I knew it was worth 100p+ but psychologically couldn't bring myself to buy at 10p or 20p as I had screwed it up so badly, and kept trying to justify my error to myself. So... I missed out on a 25+ bagger over the next couple of years from my original buying price, and would have been a millionaire...Lesson learned: have confidence in your research, and *don't panic* (in large friendly letters).Relevant Buffett saying: "No share is too high to buy, or too low to sell".

Biggles, is that the AAU shareholder's view or the Financial advisor's?

You do what you feel is right. The way I'd look at it is if you need the money then fine , if you don't then look at AAU as though it was a new opportunity and ask yourself does it present an opportunity as good as anything else out there. The comfort factor here for me is that it's a steady share built on sound fundamentals and many others are coming to the party.

paul280i you have brought all those shares this far, you might as well get the divvy on each one before you take some off the table, but I totally understand where you are coming from.

CSSF, if you are anything like me you would have sold most before the 250 bagger arrived. I now worry that I have too greater percentage of my investments in AAU and the brain keeps telling me I should cut my holding, the other half of me (I'm a Gemini) says hang on it's got a long way to go yet. My problem is that as this goes up it becomes an even greater percentage of my total and the case to reduce gets stronger but with all the good news flowing from the company it would be stupid to sell at this price.

Plasybryn, yes IMS bearing failure was the somewhat catastrophic issue, bit like a ticking time bomb. No idea when it was factory fixed though.
