Thought this particularly interesting:-

We have made significant progress across our pipeline of strategic projects in Turkey and for our new earn-in focused on Cyprus. For the latter, we are not alone in recognising the potential of this ancient source of copper, which also appears to host significant and previously unrecognised gold potential. Consequently, Ariana is very well positioned to deploy existing resources and attract other industry partners to contribute to the development of an attractive portfolio of prospective development assets. With the shake-up in the resources sector, it is probable that we will see other industry sectors, such as energy, starting to look at the minerals sector to progress their long-term green development objectives, given that the decarbonisation agenda requires the identification and consumption of substantial mineral resources.

Always leaks beforehand. Nudge nudge, wink wink. Just something to get used to. There’s every possibility of a flat to slightly down day today, but hopefully I’ wrong.

We just need the icing on the cake regarding the JV becoming ‘official̵7; with a good sound strategy on Salinbas, a Dividend, and last but by no means least, Tavsan on stream. If it isn’t at full value following that little triumvirate of announcements, I’d be amazed. Well I wouldn’t at all actually, but I should be!

I think the share price increasing is the overall message rather than accounts due. It was heavily muted that they'd be issued by end July. Let's see what happens today

Can anyone identify the balance of the working capital. There's a lot here to get your head round for an accounts simpleton!

Fantastic results and shows three times growth. However, the best thing to come out of those results was that that was achieved at an average gold price of around 1400 (based on spot prices throughout 2019). Given that the lowest gold price for 2020 has been around 1550 so far it but is likely to spend most of its time above 1800 for the year, taking an average gold price of 1800 is not unreasonable. This would add an additional 400 per ounce profit. What an amazing company this is. Will be adding substantially

How refreshing to read a set of accounts where the Directors are clearly pursuing(and delivering) shareholders value.

The Group's profit after tax grew by more than threefold in the year under review rising to GBP6.9m (2018: GBP2.2m) primarily due to the excellent operational performance of our Joint Venture investment in Zenit. This company's turnover grew by 21% reflecting the favourable movement in the gold price and increased production year on year, with their profits after tax rising from GBP7.4m to GBP15.8m, our 50% share of which amounted to GBP7.9m (2018: GBP3.7m). The year's performance also benefited from the disposal of our Kiziltepe property owning subsidiary, Camyol, being sold to Zenit at a book profit of GBP0.6m.

FINAL RESULTS RNS

“ Like all companies, Ariana exists for the benefit of its stakeholders and in particular its shareholders, who must be rewarded through increasing market capitalisation and a potential dividend stream. Your Board remains focused on these outcomes and we are particularly pleased to see that the market price of Ariana shares is substantially higher than it was this time last year. ”

Bonehammer You've hit the nail on the head. Skin in the game is the key one for me. No shortage of AIM companies issuing huge numbers of options to career managers who come in, make a million and move on. If you invest in companies where the board are aligned with the shareholders you won't always win but at least have a chance.

Thank you all for sharing your insight! it is always great to see & hear the thought process and opinions of other investors. For me, I agree that looking for the management team to have some skin in the game is very important. I also believe you can never beat face to face with someone for getting a true gauge and gut feeling for their character. I agree that the over-promising and under delivering repeatedly is a red flag. Finally, whilst I think it is extremely valuable to look at the managers past performance, I believe it is also valuable to look at their vision for the company's future. After all, you could have the best captain in the world, but if they have no vision as to where the ship should be sailing, little is achieved. This is why I find it particularly exciting with Kerim setting his vision on Cyprus and beyond.

I think the importance of looking at the management team in great detail can often be overlooked by young & less experienced investors, so it is something I am going to make a note of continuing to do.

Best wishes to all.

FWIW at around the same time 3 PIs went to Azerbaijan to look at the AAZ mines and had a similarly positive experience. When you are effectively buying a hole in the ground in a foreign country that sort of firsthand experience really gives others confidence So thanks biggles for doing the hard work!
