4.75p will finally see it back into the trend. After so long stuck below it, i'd expect it to overshoot above it at some point, particularly given PM prices now. At least a bagger in this one, imo

I was considering buying back one of my old Capris recently, on offer for 3 times what I sold it for. Her indoors reminded me that my Jaguar XKR is sitting in my garage, only done 30,000 miles in 6 years and not moved since lockdown.

Wasn't there a bearing weakness as well? I think they eventually sorted all these engine weaknesses out after around 2010. Anyone know precise date? The Turbo's etc weren't effected. Interesting Porsche lesson for anyone thinking about using their gains here to treat themselves perhaps.

That'll be the Nikasil lining on the bores, it's supposed to be super tough stuff.

Got it after 12 month and engine went with 32k on clock nichol coating in pistons I think. Porsche changed it free of charge but had to give old engine back. Only done 100k now

997 so much prettier than a 996! I had a 74 2.7 RS(replica) and a 1982 SC Sport.

The Audi looks like an oversized SUV, a Chelsea tractor thing, possibly even deadly diesel. Couldn't get excited about that! Sorry Biggles - I was impressed until you mentioned that. ha ha.

Is that a 996? Do you prefer it to the 997? So many people seem to buy and keep their Porsche's. But they did have serious engine problems which were expensive to put right I believe. Don't know much about Audi.

I was flown to the British Grand Prix by the printer we used at the time many years ago. He owned his own helicopter. Picked me up from the next door field. Had to stop on a cricket pitch coming home to refuel. That seemed scary as no one seemed to know where the nearest fuel burser was. Luckily the cricketers had taken a break for WI tea & cakes. But I'll never forget it. Better than the GP for sure.
