Well,Wan AMC has gone up 10.2% without any news !! Now I wonder if the chart with the wedge is going to play out ??
The date was 20th of September on the chart !!
Guys I hold AMC and I think it is going to play out. NAI. It is my second largest holding after AAZ.

I am still developing my investing strategy and at the moment am in a position now where if one or two of my best ideas (TXP, ALTN etc) do what I hope is achievable in the next couple of years I could really set myself up well for a potential early retirement.

Trying to keep 'just enough' in what I deem more stable stocks which I think have a limited downside like AAZ, STCM, JSE whilst having some smaller positions in stocks with more explosive potential like ALGW, ACP, PRD, ORPH. Balance is ever evolving and a personal/tricky thing to get right.

I have also thought about why not just have most funds in one or two stocks that I have think have the best risk/reward, but I feel I have 'enough' in the ones I am most hopeful about that can make a big enough difference to me if I am right and 'enough' to fall back on and re-build should unforeseen issues crop up to really scupper the best prospects.

Another philosophy thought - Life/investment returns can only be understood looking backwards (hindsight) but can only be lived/actioned looking forward?

Nah Wan, I’m a rubbish trader, I’d call it taking profits more likely, I’ve still got plenty left for the uplift. But if they do go lower, I’ve got an increased cash pot to take advantage with. No matter where I buy the cash is growing, that worries me more, always has done.

KS re point 1 is was thinking about this earlier in the year (particularly when I had a few less stock ideas) in that I had 1 or 2 stock ideas (TXP was one) that were my best ideas at the time and most of the others were also rans.

In this case I thought I would almost be better just holding the maximum level I'm comfortable with in those best holdings and either holding the rest in cash (you don't have to swing at them all - ala buffet) or perhaps even a fund.

Re point 2 I had 1 stock last year that was 20% of my folio and with 1 bit of bad news it halved and wiped off 10% off of my folio for the year.
So for stocks that have done well for me I'm starting to think I might take a few profits more often so that even if there is lots of upside, any unforeseen news becomes a recoverable risk and doesn't take my folio back to where it started before the rise.

I listened/watched this last night, the guy talks up himself a lot,,,, but, the underlying presentation I feel is very useful to anyone invested or considering investing in Gold... just play the video clip (right at the bottom of the written version) and enjoy,,, it's about 20mins long, but useful I felt.... Wan, I’d flipped some PXC yesterday, which so far looks good, will see if I can buy them back low 40’s; still got a nice hold if it shoots on any newsflow.

I really like those two points KS,,, as for me, my aim is to make some money and I do not care if I am a better or worse investor than anyone else so long as I'm not losing money :-),,, 'recoverable risks' is a great mantra to carry around and I shall start considering that immediately,,,, many thanx KS, cheers Wan :-)

He is the type of poster that reads these BB's, then blames that person or persons he reads if things go wrong.

I did think we would get the interim results today.
I do hope we don't get one RNS with multi news in it.

Lets hope we do finally get the jorc by the end of this month.
Its been put back long enough now.
Lets hope its been worth the wait.
