Hopefully it will be "through the 140p barricades".

Hopefully this will generate lots of news flow in coming months to keep Aaz in the spotlight, I think better news flow will only help the share price

Thinking that open cast isn't going to be approved; underground feasibility holds the key.
Clonitbret: "The deposit remains open in all directions, as well as to depth, and excellent gold intersections, e.g. 16.6 metres at 6.5 grammes per tonne of gold, have been recorded outside the current resource area."
So not part of the 512k JORC but indicates an underground prospect may well be there.

If SW is effectively running this, looks well worth the gamble.

I was kinda hoping there would be a tasty brownfield JV, maybe in Georgia ...something that would generate revenue within a year or so.
Still, there's a fair chance of jam tomorrow for little sacrifice until development, should it happen.

Highlights...

* HoT signed to acquire up to a 55 per cent. interest in the Longford Down gold project in Ireland currently wholly-owned by Conroy Gold

* The licences cover over 800 square kilometres in a major gold district in the north-east of the island of Ireland, known as the Longford Down Massif, containing significant gold targets including:

1) Clontibret - an existing JORC Resource of over 500,000 ounces of gold, situated in County Monaghan, in the Republic of Ireland

2) Clay Lake in County Armagh, Northern Ireland - a gold target that extends for two kilometres by one kilometre and lies at the north-eastern end of the 40 mile Longford Down gold trend

3) An additional 8.8 million ounces of gold exploration targets in the Longford Down trend providing significant upside potential

* The joint venture will increase the Company's inventory of JORC resources with a well-defined path to production

* Anglo Asian has a track record as a successful builder of mines and this experience will prove complementary to the exploration skills and local knowledge of the existing Conroy Gold team and enable the Company to rapidly drive the Project forward to production

* Many synergies such as the type of exploration and the potential mining techniques exist between the Company's current activities in Azerbaijan and at the Longford Down Massif

* Clontibret is of a scale which will add significantly to the Company's operations but is well within the capability of the Company to manage without impacting the development of its projects in Azerbaijan

* Ireland is an attractive mining jurisdiction, with highly prospective geology - the Republic hosts Europe's largest zinc mine and gold mining projects are being developed across the border in Northern Ireland

I wonder if there is a political angle here too. I've looked at Irish oilers before and there has often been criticism about how difficult it can be to get environmental permits there. I don't know if the same applies to gold, but it could be that John Sununu can unblock anything in that area

It is clear that there is some "history" to Conroy. Their investors seem a bit disillusioned about the lack of activity over the years.

But we can be 100% sure that AAZ are going into this with their eyes wide open. They also pretty obviously had the upper hand in negotiations - and the downside is very well protected.

In the meantime we get to look at a potentially huge resource at our leisure.

^ Exactly the same as GGP Gary Hindsight.

No production, no prospect of actually building a mine, constant placings (I think I once counted 40 odd of them), and always a micro-cap.

Actually not much has changed, except they keep adding gold reserves. Now nearly a half-billion pounds company, with directors still making a fortune via share options.

One of the most exciting lines in today's RNS is reminiscent of GGP.... "The deposit remains open in all directions, as well as to depth" - Clontibret licence.

I hope this deal works out but I am wary of Conroy gold. Been in existence since 1995 and never mined a single ounce. Placing after placing to fund professor conroy lifestyle. There was a coup to try to oust him a while back by some sort of consortium with a significant stake but just before the egm he did a placing to his mates only so the coup was outvoted. Hence why such a big uplift it their price today its the first sign of real development in 25 yearsClearly they need help to get the stuff out the ground and aaz has a track record in doing so and just hope the DD was not only about the gold JORC itself but also the company personnel.

Importantly this is a gold only project, without the copper, and a short route to mining. 55% control is baked in and can go higher when major capex is required to fund development of a mine and processing facility.

Just 2 mines producing in ROI; both underground.

Still, pretty big.

In fact, Tara was the 3rd largest zinc producer in the world, when this was written:

Clearly over 5 years ago.

Still, Drummond - mostly gypsum
started production in 2005, so not that far back.

Hmmm, well if Drummond got the go-ahead, not all is forlorn.

I know what you are saying RB but i was hoping that the JV was going to be more exciting than what this looks at first glance. CGNR is not a company i would have invested in before . AAZ are giving them a lifeline imo . Lets hope it pays off . Well done on your trades this morning.

Stephen Westhead, Director of Geology & Mining, commented:

"The Longford Down Massif includes some very highly prospective gold targets and the proposed joint venture immediately adds to the Company's inventory of JORC resources, while also increasing exploration upside potential to the shorter term mine development targets.

The Company has demonstrated its expertise in exploration through to developing projects into production.

This expertise will prove transferrable to Ireland, where the proposed exploration and development programme has the potential to add to shareholder value."

This joint venture will immediately add gold resources to our inventory and there is a well-defined path to production at Clontibret.

Has the delay of company jorc statements, due end of Q3, been driven by progress of the joint venture agreement and inclusion of their jorced resources.

Ambitions of a mid tier gold miner now on the horizon.

That it was so high when I got quoted I just chucked a grand for a gamblers punt, worked fine this time. I’d no intention of doing anything other than a quick churn myself.

Right getting earache to get sorted, so this time I have gone, maybe get WiFi later.
