19/12/2018 09:55 | bwana - experience has made me a trader - but everyone should have their own style, that suits them. | bumpa33
19/12/2018 09:47 | Thanks for having me wanobi I’m new at this investing lark myself. Fell for a shameless ramp a few weeks ago and bought into ALGW at 5p it’s sitting at 1.9p now but I’d rather hold till comes good or goes bankrupt than give those damn Rampers a win :) | oakey1
19/12/2018 09:45 | Wanobi, you will learn as you go along. You area fast learner too. Bumpa, you are a trader, I am an investor. But good to learn from you as well. I am very glad that Wanobi set this thread. We have been lucky so far as the muppets have not arrived here yet. They ruin a BB. ATB. | callmebwana
19/12/2018 09:40 | at least I'm reading the buy/sell pressure correctly, AAZ now headed down :-) cheers Wan | wanobi
19/12/2018 09:36 | btw I opened an IG account, no money in it, but I'm playing around with their demo area, obviously there is real danger of screwing up with leverage, but, so far the SB/CFD platforms seem very easy to use, interactive charts look great, stops & limits easy to apply etc etc...... don't worry, I'm NOT putting any cash there, just getting the feel for their software and how that all works etc... I see they also offer a share dealing account & ISA etc etc.... will report more on this as I learn more,,, cheers all, Wan | wanobi
19/12/2018 09:35 | Yep, plus you’re an investor remember? ;) | bumpa33
19/12/2018 09:26 | aha, ok, thanx Bumpa,,,,, I certainly have no time to do that at the moment :-) cheers Wan | wanobi
19/12/2018 09:25 | Wan - the only way you get to know some mm’s is by talking to them. The main broker I use goes out socially with a number of them from a number of the desks. There are some decent ones, and some of them you wouldn’t lend a fiver. | bumpa33
19/12/2018 09:22 | P.s. I don’t know if they’re still as bad, I was told they’d cleaned up their act - but back then if you owed them money/got into dispute, they employed some very nasty tactics. | bumpa33
19/12/2018 09:22 | thanx Bumpa, bwana, treacherous waters we're in as PI's, not only are the MM's and their clients all in one big club they can mess around with the rules of the game as well to fleece us and also the AIM companies themselves raising loads of cash and simply paying it to themselves etc etc... makes you wonder how on earth this is all allowed to happen in 2018!!!!! oh well, now that I know these things (thanx to you guys) I'll be treading a lot more carefully in future :-) My only concern with AAZ BOD/management is their age!!! Bumpa, when AAZ gets over 100p and seems solid there I may very well treat myself to L2 so I can get to know the MM's like you do and see who's doing what and how they do it etc.... I'll have to trade a few things one day, when I have the time and set up for it :-) cheers Wan | wanobi
19/12/2018 09:16 | On US rates, the dot plot is still forecasting three rate rises next year. A number of UK economists (Deutsche Bank being one) are forecasting three but admit they could revise this lower depending on the Fed statement Hopefully, any doveishness tonight will push the gold price convincingly through $1250. | jimbowen30
19/12/2018 09:12 | Wanobi, I read somewhere that some traders @ IG do it just for fun. Apparently a recording was made of the traders talking about it there. Sometimes I think there are many things stacked against PI's in this Market. The FCA allows many AIM Co. BOD's to fleece PI's and get away with it. I think it is a very common practice in the AIM. We are very lucky with the BOD @ AAZ.Very rare in AIM Co's. HUM BOD? Just look up the options they have awarded themselves !! Crooks and thieves comes to mind. WSG is another one. Nepotism, Options, etc, etc. No assets worth mentioning. Many fund raise share dilution. Yet PI's keep piling in !! It is a big minefield there. ATB. | callmebwana
19/12/2018 09:12 | Winterfloods have that 50k, there’s a 15 and a 10 offered too. 10k on the bid. WINS tend to be just retail these days, though didn’t check beyond the rsp. | bumpa33
19/12/2018 09:09 | AAZ - HL - Buy 50000 shares at 89.4p on offer, Sell 10000 shares at 87.0001p offered right now,,, so I'd say the seller is still around and share price more likely to fall from here, am I reading this right??? cheers Wan | wanobi
19/12/2018 08:59 | welcome oakey1, very, very wise move that... I'm sleeping ok at the moment with my AAZ exposure,,, but,,, should it turn down fast and start heading towards my 60p average I'm sure I may have a few sleepless nights and so on....:-) Hopefully, rule number 9, AAZ without a black swan event such as a mine collapse, flood, earthquake, POG crash, war, political unrest, riots, accounting scandals, mercenaries steeling the mine or gold shipments, government doing the same etc etc.... scary :-) lol,,,,,, should be valued at a much higher price than 89p,, to me the risk/reward equation is more biased towards that happening than it not, or the black swan occurring, hence my large position (large for me that is).... As a newbie I've had to wrestle with my decisions all the way through this ride, question everything to try and establish that view without simply taking others (well respected others!!) words for it.... I'm comfortable with it for now, if I lose the lot, I just have to work longer until I can retire,,,, if it goes well I can either retire earlier or raise my living standard in retirement... all good fun right now, but lets see what life's going to throw at us!!! it has a very regular habit of wrecking the best laid plans :-) wish you the very best with all your investments and totally respect your risk approach... thanx for posting, cheers Wan | wanobi
19/12/2018 08:57 | Some of the mm’s used to run the stops in big retail favorite stocks, was easy money. Some really horrendously obvious cases in the past, PRM sticks in mind but has happened to many... Don’t EVER use stops with CFD providers. Short YU pre market at 85, out at 72.5. Pocket money trade, not enough liquidity - again :( | bumpa33
19/12/2018 08:47 | I don’t use stop losses either But then again I only play with money I can afford to lose | oakey1
19/12/2018 08:47 | also, how interesting Correct Reporting of Share Trades on the London Stock Exchange We believe the current system works against the private investor as buys are shown as sells and vise versa according to the ask and bid price set by the market makers at the time of trading. We believe this is wide open to manipulation and misinterprets the facts. We would like to see a new, fair system that will report a trade factually. In turn this will lead to greater transparency on the London Stock Exchanges. AIM in particular seems manipulated by the Market Makers. Actually defeating their roll of creating a real and fair market for investors. Altering spreads to hide the status of transactions isn't transparent. Cheers Wan | wanobi
19/12/2018 08:42 | from Market Watch; Another problem with a stop loss order is that when you enter it into the computer, the order is transparent. A game that some market-makers played (these days, it will be computer algorithms) is “run the stops,” when the stock is forced low enough to trigger a large cluster of stop loss orders (usually at round numbers or well-known support and resistance levels). After the stock is sold at a popular stop loss price, the stock reverses direction and rallies. Cheers Wan | wanobi
19/12/2018 08:38 | Stop Losses - good point bwana, can they see them? do they appear as orders on MM's systems? how does that all work?? I will see what I can find on that... Cheers Wan | wanobi
19/12/2018 08:35 | good morning all, things look to be winding down for the xmas break, feels very quiet out there, I could use a rest to be honest, sometimes its hard work to keep up with everything :-) cheers Wan | wanobi
19/12/2018 08:35 | Good morning all. Yesterday I mentioned that FFX had taken a bit of a hit. We got a very good RNS at 16.30.It is back up this morning. I bet some stop loses were triggered yesterday. I don't use stop lose as I think the MM's can see them. I think the FED would raise interest rates by 1/4% today. They will make a statement that they will not raise any in 2019 unless they see inflation going up too high. They may have left rates as they were but now can't be seen to back down because of pressure from Trump. He does more harm than good by his Tweets. Oil..Watch PFC,yesterday there was a trading statement from them. Not bad, it gives a yield of 7%. The share price falls with the price of Oil.There is still investigation pending from the SFO.I think that is all priced in the share price. It used to trade over £10 before the SFO investigation started. I did very well out of it this year.in @ £4.30 out @ £6.50. NAI. Gold price on the up. See how AAZ preforms today. I hope the big order has been filled and we start our march towards £1. ATB. | callmebwana
19/12/2018 05:25 | Good to see gold nudging over the $1250 level, can't do AAZ any harm. | lefrene |
