This business throws off something like a £1 million a week profit, yet is valued around £100 million, if the MM's have them on sale it might be worth picking up a few more. Oh yes they also pay a rather nice divi and have possibly the best management on the market.

Cinoib,

indeed - reduce sell limit to 500 just pushes a few to sell when open up.

looking to top-up at these levels

Haven’t Aviva been selling down a few holdings recently? Not sure on that, may be worth investigating...

Anyone rate the Motley Fool?

In looking around for a good solid dividend play which has potential for share price to rise I found Aviva!!

Big dividends

Since hitting 552p a pop back in May, insurance giant Aviva (LSE: AV) has seen its share price hammered, down 32%. While some of this is clearly the result of the flight from equities over the past couple of months, the company isn’t without its own challenges.

Currently leaderless following the unexpected departure of highly-regarded CEO Mark Wilson, Aviva has also had to contend with Government plans to increase regulation on equity release lifetime mortgages and the fallout from its spectacularly misjudged plan to cancel preference shares earlier in the year.

Since these look like short-term issues, I think it’s surely only a matter of time before Aviva bounces back. Meanwhile, there’s an 8.9% yield in the offing next year, based on the current share price. Importantly, this return is likely to be covered 1.8 times by profits, based on projections from analysts — the kind of security that must make owners of other firms in the top tier green with envy.

Changing hands for an exceptionally cheap six times forecast earnings for the firm’s next financial year (beginning 1st January), Aviva looks a steal right now.

thanx guys, Rg has raised one of the biggest questions, when to start selling,,, with a large holding it must be chunk by chunk in a period when the share price is rising right!?

apologies for my naivety guys but selling a large holding in an relatively illiquid stock like AAZ on AIM could I feel prove difficult if not done correctly!!

Cheers

No Brasso, just another Wade Cherwayko play, he knew how to find oil plays but his wife exacted revenge for many a holder; what goes round, comes round sometimes.

Wanobi, few years back I got into Mart Resources at an all time low, pilling in heavy until it reached 14c, free riding from dividends, made nearly a Million on paper, when I started selling to the point I was eventually was forced out due to a bid, I’d given above half of that back; it was a very painful lesson on risk/reward, falling in love with a share/believing a story, running winners and taking profits etc.

Markets always provide lessons, trick is to heed them. One such lesson is never invest in Nigerian oil plays, area is awash with the stuff but business ethics are shocking putting it mildly.

Do your own thing but live and learn.

Wanobi, have you got a watch list of shares ? I use Google finance for that.
I looked at a few that I would top up on or buy in. if the Market takes a big hit.
IDEA,FFX,K3C,DSCV,SOM and SCH.There is also always AAZ to pile in if it fall around 80P. JORC news and Trading Updates due in the next 4 weeks, so I doubt it will fall.
The next trading days should see the XMAS rally I hope.
NAI and please DYOR if you decide to invest.
ATB.
PS.
Wanobi I did that with AMC while we were waiting for the License news.I even bought some, as FRAK on the III BB found out that AMC had got the License before the RNS arrived.
I don't mind disclosing my holding in AAZ to you,it is 172,204 Shares now..

Bumpa, bwana, I too watched the big short, well most of it, I missed the start and would have missed the whole thing if you had not posted Bumpa, so thanks for doing that...

One thing that struck me was the leg work they put into proving up their postulation before they went in big, literally threw the kitchen sink at it and walked away with a fortune.... a bit like the discussion I was having with mattjos yesterday,,, & WB's "when it's raining gold, put out the bucket not the thimble." and when those opportunities come his way, he takes full advantage!!!!

it's clear to me that he truly believes this is such an event, he's done the leg work & can clearly see how undervalued AAZ is, hence his determination & discussion with me about buying as much AAZ as my funds permit...

apologies for talking about you, rather than to you mattjos, but I do see clearly where you are coming from... you are like the guy in the film, you have total belief in AAZ and have thrown the sink at it... so I'm guessing that when it revalues you'll walk away with a fortune... I truly hope it does that for you & for us.

I will be adding more on the back of this weekends discussion :-)

thanx all...

Cheers
Wan

I got back in last night,if I had known what the weather was going to be like here I would have stayed in Cyprus,LOL. It was freezing rain and very cold. I had a very good holiday for a month, chilled out now.
The internet was rubbish where I was,so just been reading the posts today.

Bumpa you have been having fun.I hope you did well with your shorts.
I watched The Big Short last night on BBC2.

Whilst i’m certainly not looking forward to a market crash, for the wider implications, i’ll certainly be looking forward to the opportunities afforded when all the bad players in this market inevitably get brought to task. Those opportunities will be truly once in a lifetime.

Interesting examples of big winners Mattjos gives.

Tanfield (TAN) I remember well, it’s still around but completely collapsed a few years back. Don’t know ‘bout WCC, never come across it. I guess the point is, that somewhere along the line, however great a stock is, there’ll always be a point to get out...

yes Bo, if people move to gold it should be good, but, generally everything gets sold off is what I keep hearing.... could even be a great buying opportunity for AAZ at way lower prices, who knows,,,, as you say it will be interesting to see how AAZ share price responds,,,,, who knows, I certainly don't :-) cheers Wan
