17/3/2005 11:43 | Pomp, Added to the above I have known owners who have pulled horses from races because the odds have shortened so much they themselves can't get a bet on at smaller meetings. Due to a tipping service If I know of a horse tipped by a service thats odds are too short because of the weight of money. I look for something else in that race from a powerful stable that does not gamble and the odds of their horse is normally out a little. So you obtain a value for money bet. | ![]() acamas
17/3/2005 11:42 | pomp...i done your mates yankee......£11 bet will return me £25000......so he must have afair wager if his return is £1 million.......he must be confident or loaded!!!!!! | ![]() chapchip
17/3/2005 11:39 | tips? Why would you? and 5 mins after those who pay full price? So not only do you not chose youre own horses but you back them under the odds!!! | ![]() pomp circumstance
17/3/2005 11:36 | Anybody ever subscribe to these guys? | neilrr
17/3/2005 11:36 | Stanley went 5/1 and then wouldnt lay it!!! its 1/4 the odds so 4/1 gives you a free win bet if you beleive it cant not be placed!! | ![]() pomp circumstance
17/3/2005 11:32 | jpon - I think Rule Supreme looks fantastic. Unfortunately i've not managed to get any odds long enough to make an e/w bet work. | bingobarnes
17/3/2005 11:29 | Rule Supreme will beat Baracouda today. Don't doubt the judgement of Willie Mullins. He wouldn't have withdrawn him from a sub standard Gold Cup if he didn't think he could win. He is an e/w bet to nothing. Still some 9/2 available. My nap of the whole festival. | jpon
17/3/2005 11:13 | Zinco, Never let anyone change your mind with horses. It is your decision and your money. At the major meetings many horses in every race are in with a chance, including Fondmort. | ![]() acamas
17/3/2005 11:05 | Gentelman, my tips for the day are as follows: 2.00 pm Ball O'Malt - e/w @ 33-1; and Lacdoudal - e/w @ 12-1 2.35 Fondmart - e/w @ 9-1; and Rathgar Blue - to win @ 4-1 3.15 Westender - e/w @ 25-1; and Korelo - e/w @ 12-1 4.00 Brooklyn Breeze - e/w @ 7-1; and Redemption - e/w @ 18-1 4.40 Laska De Thaix - e/w @ 33-1; and Classic Native - e/w @ 12-1 5.20 Basilee Star - e/w @ 12-1; and Team Tassel - e/w 28-1. As you can see I have gone for e/w bets. Some of the prices on the favourites are far too short. I prefer to go for a horse that has long odds and a fair old chance of sneaking in 2nd or 3rd. 17/3/2005 10:57 | Thanks for that sir....NOT!!.....LOL ps....you know what would win if i chaged my mind don't you?..... | zinco
17/3/2005 10:52 | Zinco, Fondmort is interesting because when you look at his record he has never won a race in 13 attempts in the second half of the season. Yet prior to January 1 he has won 6 of 9 races during his career in Britain. I like him a lot and he tries hard. I hope he wins for you but history is not on his side. | ![]() acamas

17/3/2005 10:22 | Morning all, Graham Lee's keeping my head above water with winners @ 20/1 and 12/1 plus a few places on other rags. Another E/W lucky 15 for me today, Stanleys pays treble odds on one winner. Lacdoudal Rathgar Beau Inglis Drever Hunters Tweed + a sentimental bet on Edredon Bleu E/W, I think he'll be retired after todays race, he's certainly earned it. Best of luck. | ![]() prefab
17/3/2005 10:08 | Acamas, Thank you for taking the trouble to share your thoughts and tips with us. i don't know enough about the horses, so I am a mug punter but I do enjoy a day at the races and won a placepot at Kempton in January. I was at Cheltenham on Tuesday and did my dosh on Colourful Life (appropriate in my case) but I went with your selections yesterday and finished a few quid up. Domestic football is my bag and am £ 3,700 up since January, betting on outcomes on a given day i.e. non-season. ATB Whiteshoes | whiteshoes
17/3/2005 09:54 | Morning all, Was off work yesterday watching the races, not at Cheltenham alas, but from the sunny delieghts of Walthamstow, North London. Following on from two winners on the first day, yesterday brought four winners to leave me marginally up so far. Will as before post all my bets before midday. Good luck folks. 17/3/2005 08:30 | Morning all Have had a look at the first 3 races today:- 2:00 Liverpool Echo & St Matthew(EW) No surprise in choice of Liverpool Echo he is one of the market leaders St Matthew is the rank outsider but when you look at his form at two and half miles he is up there with the leaders only to tire and fall in the last half mile of his 3 mile races. His last chase was against Ollie Magern and King Harald. He was weakening at the 4th last when 3rd, fell, over 3miles 1fur at Wetherby. He was carrying 11-8, today he has 11-1. Sue Smith's stable is in form and I am hoping he can make a bold show and run into a place. At 50/1(66's in places) he looks a decent EW bet. 2:35 This looks a two horse race Our Vic and Rathgar Beau I cannot split them so I would go for the longer priced one of the two in a case like this. So it is Rathgar Beau. 3:15 The two I like here are Crystal D'Ainay and Sh Boom(EW) They are both young distance hurdlers and are open to improvement Crystal D'Ainay has more than one victory at Cheltenham Sh Boom on the other hand was going very easily in this race last year when it tipped up at the 4th last and deserves another chance I feel at 20/1(25's Corals) or thereabouts. | ![]() acamas

REGARDS THE SHARE THIEF | zinco
16/3/2005 21:12 | Pomp, Thanks for the above. I want to have a study of Rathgar Beau because he is top on my ratings system based on the prevailing going. But I need more research on type of course he prefers and distance. The other races I have not studied yet will do tomorrow a.m. when Racing Post arrives | ![]() acamas
16/3/2005 20:39 | A very good friend of mine has done the following 4 in an e/w yankee to win nearly a million for fun tomorrow, (but ha a good case for each selection!!) 14:00 Ball O Malt@40/1 (tipped in RP and note comment in RP from prev run) 14:35 Rathgar Beau@4/1 (simply the best horse in the race) 16:00 Polar Red@25/1 (laid out by martin pipe who prtect his handicap in hurdles) 17:20 Hautclan@14/1 (laid out by Jonjo (stable a worry),got AP on and will be well backed) | ![]() pomp circumstance
16/3/2005 19:59 | I know what you mean, I used to keep a diary of trainers comments regarding future targets, just dont have the time now. Pace bias is very important in sprints, a horse winning a couple of sprints from the front that appears well in his next race can dissappoint cos he gets taken on for the lead. Unlucky horses in sprints are always well backed next time, but its a mugs games, unlucky one sin sprints tend always to be unlucky!! Normally come from behind sorts!! Ive leant a whole bag of new tricks since the exchanges arrived, which combined with the lack of time has seen me become very profitable with little prep work involved! | ![]() pomp circumstance
16/3/2005 19:20 | Acamas, I hope you never tell them that in your "How to get like a pro" presentations that you sometimes bet for fun!!!! ;) I just dont have time to do formbook stuff these days so stick to arbing unless something stands out. I used to do sprints using draw and pace bias but then everyone started doing it and the edge on prices was lost. You know the four 4/1 shots drawn closest to the rail at Beverley in a 5f sprint!! | ![]() pomp circumstance
16/3/2005 19:07 | Zinco, For the sheer fun of it the JUMPS but for making money the FLAT. That is the best way to do it know your limitations cashwise and stick to it. I just love the big meetings they are the ones where you can get a decent bet on at an acceptable price. I do not get information it is all down to the formbook and paddock inspections. Good luck to you as well for the rest of the festival. | ![]() acamas
16/3/2005 18:49 | Acamas do you prefer JUMPS or the FLAT?,i dont bet much now but i set aside x amount each year just for cheltenham i just love the buzz.... ps....i still get bits from a small northern yard (if thier doing the best today and all that) do you get info or is it all your own work?...cheers and happy punting.....;-))) | zinco |
