03/4/2005 11:29 | Hi Folks, Have had a look at todays card and one horse at Kelso looks interesting. 3:30 Behavingbadly it is the only course and distance winner in the field and yet it is not in the betting in The Sunday Mirror. It looks an EW bet with a chance of winning. It has won on prevailing going. The only other horse that has won over this extreme distance is Lord Capitaine who is favorite. Could this be a two horse race at the finish? With just eight runners EW looks promising at 10/1 or longer. | acamas
02/4/2005 16:19 | Peter, I wish it could have won for you | acamas
02/4/2005 15:38 | Cheers for the tip Acamas, I had £10 EW so it pays for the beers :-) | peterstilgoe
02/4/2005 13:09 | Ive wacked agostoni in the 1355 newb, well fancied but im on for free!! | pomp circumstance
02/4/2005 11:54 | Havent looked at this thread for ages but fancied a flutter so ive gone in on Resplendent, hope your right acamas ! lol | peterstilgoe
02/4/2005 11:44 | Hi Folks, Had a look at the Lincoln 3:20 Doncaster and fancy Resplendent One with Keiron Fallon on board at around 22/1. Why? He is drawn 1 and yesterdays winner over the straight mile, Barathea Dreams, was also drawn 1. The second and third home in that race were drawn 8 & 7 so it looks like we need a low draw this year. The other two I like the look of are at Newbury 3:35pm Diamond Sal from powerful Johnson yard travelled a long way Harringay from Henrietta Knights stable occasionally she pulls off a surprise in this type of race. The horse stays and has been placed four times so should run well at a long price. Good luck | acamas
30/3/2005 11:52 | Sorry folks watched the race and feel What Odds lost the race with his jumping. He never attacked a single fence looked to me as if he was taking care of himself. After each jump he lost a length or two on the front runners and had to make up ground in between jumps. Therefore when they turned in to the home straight he was beaten and dropped back tamely. | acamas
28/3/2005 16:16 | Hmmm - seems bunny bolier was withdrawn this morning. No wonder the bookies were happy to offer me 80/1! | spawny100
28/3/2005 13:48 | Cheers Acamas. For a wee bank holiday flutter I backed your 2 suggestions above. 80/1 on bunny boiler. Come on my son! | spawny100
28/3/2005 13:37 | Thanks for that acamas i'll take a look....;-))) | zinco
28/3/2005 13:04 | Hi Folks, It is the Irish Grand National today 3:50 at Fairyhouse The two horses I like are:- What Odds - Not a very inspiring tip because it is second favourite. However it has been laid out for the race and the owner has backed it EW to win him a nice Easter bundle. The Bunny Boiler- would be my outsider each way. He is a CD winner can be querky but on his day still has a big race in him. The going is to his liking. If he gets it in to his head to run a big race he could just spring a surprise | acamas
24/3/2005 13:13 | I think that would be a very good idea. I will post when I feel I have something of value to contribute. | acamas
23/3/2005 14:04 | Flying Enterprise could go very well today in first at Chepstow and is one to watch for the future if not today . Disappointing first run in England but last run at Ludlow was full of promise. See finished 4th btn in tight finish. The 3rd horse is very highly thought of apparently so the form might augur well for the future. | solomonthewise
21/3/2005 15:09 | seagreen...note your concern re aussie lot....don't worry...been at this game for some years with speculative stocks .... I have an interest but nothing that will make me sweat in the least....thanks for the interest - assume sincere. Most of my investments are designed to be medium/longterm....I never daytrade etc except on the nags if the right opportunity presents itself of course!! | solomonthewise
21/3/2005 14:59 | Pomp.........I thought that too but the stable were at pains to insist that he prefered good going ....looking at the Henessey and Gold cup literally you would have to concur that Royal Auclair prefered it firmer than Celestial Gold.....anyway thats a dangerous avenue to debate!! soloman I am not saying you wont make a fortune but watch yourself on that uranium baby as a lot of people have doubled their money and they will all start running for the door leaving you holding the toxic waste and having t9o wait a few years before the mine is set up etc to collect your dosh!! | seagreen
21/3/2005 12:49 | Happy to contribute ( if I have anything worth imparting - always dyor )and to read this or any racing thread although I don't bother with Flat racing other than a cursory interest. seagreen...sorry you missed it yesterday zinco...your dad was pretty close to the mark....having owned various bits and pieces of that noble creature, the racehorse, one soon learns the true meaning of 'no such thing as a certainty'....no matter how much effort is expended in removing the variables... good luck to you all. | solomonthewise
21/3/2005 12:39 | i will post but most of my bets are determined by what i can lay off!! | pomp circumstance
21/3/2005 12:36 | Spawny could'nt agree more mate,POMP and ACAMAS are the one's on here with the brains am just the fella who started the thread because of my love affair with cheltenham,so come on pomp, acamas what do you think about an ANTE-POST,BIG MEET thread?....;-))) | zinco
21/3/2005 12:29 | Cheers Zinco - bit more sophisticated than a pin tho! Similar to my investing strategy and involves amassing a "subjective majority opinion" database in my head by reading all I can on various bulletin boards and assigning a sort of credibility rank to the various posters/tipsters and somehow distilling it all into a result. Friday was indeed a spectacularly good day for me at Cheltenham and I woudl have been seriously rich had I had anything like a sensible amount of money to punt. P.S most posters on this thread score pretty highly in my subjective database! cheers guys! | spawny100
21/3/2005 12:25 | My old dad has a saying about racing...."the more you know about racing the less you know"....spawny keep using your "pin" it worked wonder's last week......:-))) | zinco
21/3/2005 12:22 | Royal Eclair prefers its sticky, but unlike horses like best mate that has a big heart Royal Eclair seems to have soft centre!! | pomp circumstance
21/3/2005 12:08 | Seagreen - i was also E/W on Royal eclair and similarly gutted. Agree a regular racing thread would be much appreciated if the likes of acamas, Pomp and zinco have the time and inclination? I would be an avid reader though am a relative novice to this game so may not contribute too much at first. | spawny100
21/3/2005 12:01 | Perhaps you guys could start a daily racing thread or at least repeat this for Liverpool.........fo | seagreen
21/3/2005 10:40 | LOL....all very odd you could buy 50k 18.20p with only one on the offer, now thier are two they have moved up to 18.50 for 50k....;-)) | zinco |
