aca, kempton is a flat sharp 3mile track (hence the 1500m on a track) Cheltenham is 3m2f up and down with the emphasis on stamina (hences the cross country analogy)

Theres no way KK would have beatne Best Mate at Chelt but we might never know that one.

His class may prevail at Chelt as the race has become a handicappers race off level weights!

Pomp,

As Kicking King has never had a cross country race he is unproven as they say. However apart from that last fence blunder on Boxing day he ripped the field apart in much the same fashion as Captain Christy did some years before who also won the Gold Cup I believe. After the race I may well be proved wrong with Kicking King but he is a big powerful individual with lots of promise still to be achieved

Peter,

The Gold Cup on Friday will be a small field so long prices will be hard to find. However if you take the form literally then Sir Rembrant @ odds of 14/1 must be the bet. He finished second to Best Mate last year with this years favorite Beef or Salmon in 4th place. They are both the same age and carry the same weight. So for a decent price Sir Rembrant has to be considered. The going also looks to be the same for both years.

I think the winner will come from Sir Rembrant or Kicking King. Kicking King's style of running in the King George impressed me greatly.
