Peter, good to soft.

I looked at Whitford Don as an EW. But he is raised in class on his last run and wondered if he is up to winning in todays company. I hope he wins for you. Good luck.

Peter,

On form Lacdoudal is the one I like in the 14:00

The two I do fancy at Aintree today are

3:10 Le Roi Miguel to give Moscow Flyer a run for the money

4:55 Kock de la Vesvre - he is dropped in class on his last run is 16/1 in betting.Although I do respect Zetas River, he jumped very well at Newbury when he won last time out.

Zetas River - 4.55. Aintree.
Balloted out when strongly fancied at Cheltenham.
Must have a brilliant chance of winning today.

If the rain comes i have a little feeling for an outsider from Ireland Marcus Du Berlais (FR), The idstance and the hurley biorly will be no probs, hes a good jumper and will like soft ground!!

Pomp,

I watched the race and Timmy could not cover him up, once the other two departed at the second hurdle. He was making the pace at certain stages. When they turned into the home straight he had nothing more to offer and went backwards before falling at the last hurdle. Very disappointing.

Hi Folks,

Two horses I fancy today

2:00 Aintree Korelo - He finished further behind Inglis Drever at Cheltenham than his stable mate Westender, yet the stable jockey prefers him to Westender in this race. Also Korelo has only had four races this season so is still fresh and they may be some improvement still to come.

4:30 Leicester One Putra - M. Jarvis has gone to Leicester with just two horses. The stable jockey is on both (P Robinson). The stable have had winners already this season so we should get a good run. On last seasons form he has the ability to win a race of this type.

IMHO

Pomp,

I have not made my final selection, but I do like your choice. He will stay acts on any going, has a good weight, and is the best age for winning this race.

Car973,

Yes I agree, our selection must be able to run well on prevailing going. I shall watch for any movement in the market if the going changes between now and then.

Hi folks,

For those that are interested in backing the winner of the Grand National one large stat to consider "11 of the last 14 winners were among the first eight in the betting". That means in most recent years you can forget three quarters of the field when picking a winner. This is because of safety regulations the fences are easier to jump and therefore we now see a speedier type of jumper entered for this race. They can also jump flatter with more emphasis on fleetness and still get round the course.

We must not confuse the race today with the 60's/70's when jumping was more important than pace.
