30/10/2017 14:51 | Anybody know anything about points 3 & 5? News coming Nov-Dec17 : 30p by dec17? 1. P25 spudded and drill results in Nov17. P27 next to be spudded nov/dec17? 2. CPO5 M1 tests, Mariposa-1 interpretation of the short term test data in nov17 with oil prod by Dec17? 3. RODA upgrades and equipment maintenance in Ecuador which should be completed by now Oct17 ?? 4. Production going from 6k to 7.5k with new production from Plantillo by Dec17 5. Pad 5 to pad9 interconnection should be complete by now Oct17?? 6. Reserves to uplift the Share price in Nov17 - Dec17. 8. ONGC maybe buyout of Amer ?? ( Oil and Natural Gas Corp, plans to invest $150 million in exploration this fiscal year to drill more wells in Colombia, where it just made a commercial discovery, as well as in Kazakhstan and Bangladesh). Foiled again POV: There would be no point in a hostile predator snapping 8% or more if they knew that the BoD would be given support by major holders in fighting a hostile approach and that in my opinion is why there has not been an approach (so far). | oilandgas1

30/10/2017 09:51 | I wouldn't be averse to a quick sale for say 50-60p but in 3 years time I think the whole economics of the company will have changed so the price could easily be over £1 if we are doing 20-30k barrels per day from plat and our 30% stake in the ONGC operated site. I can wait until 2020. | acv74
30/10/2017 08:40 | The fact that has not happened indicates that the major holders (apart from RH perhaps) have every confidence in the BoD to push the company. In my opinion the reason there has not been a predatory approach is that the BoD informed major holders of the disposal and received assurances of support in the event of a predatory approach. Been no institutional sell offs. There would be no point in a hostile predator snapping 8% or more if they knew that the BoD would be given support by major holders in fighting a hostile approach and that in my opinion is why there has not been an approach (so far) | foiledagain
30/10/2017 08:30 | Another way would be for the company to be acquired. The sooner the better for me. | blackdown2
29/10/2017 22:29 | One way to "really get the share price moving" would be the wholesale removal of the non-exec members of the BoD and their replacement with professionals with relevant oil experience as well as other necessary skills (other than attempting to line their own nests). | tonyrelaxes
29/10/2017 21:29 | Thanks guys for your answers. I have been researching this and what you say is on point. The crude they are finding also seems fairly light which I presume is why it sells at a small discount to Brent crude. @charlieee if they find 18mmbo in the n sands (current reserves of 24.5mmbo at the interims) I presume this would really get the share price moving? Anyway cheers | lordyjordy1
29/10/2017 20:08 | Lordy, oil sands are the sticky bituminous sands associated with unconventional oil extraction. Amerisur targets conventional discoveries where oil is trapped in high quality, consolidated sandstone reservoirs (insofar as it has micro cavities between the sand particles to hold the oil). The oil is under massive pressure and escapes from its host once the strata is perforated naturally or by drilling. I think u p & t sands are simply the labels given by the geologist to each sandstone strata. They are therefore field-specific and not generic. Disclaimer: I am a punter, not a geologist, and would be happy to be corrected. | davwal
29/10/2017 20:01 | The Putumayo basin has multi zone potential, with limestones and sands and shale seals. Top downwards N sand M2 limestone A limestone U sand T sand Caballos All the production brought on this year has been U/lower U: that is for Plat.24, 22, 21 and probably the 25 side track. The next well, Plat 27 also targets the U sand. Next year is targeting the N sand (extract from the accounts)from the same Pad. "Significant further upside has been identified in the Platanillo field, in addition to the separate northern structure, with the N Sand Anomaly in the north/central part of the field targeting 18.8 MMBOE. The studies required to modify the Platanillo environmental licence to include further locations located over the N sand anomalies have been completed. The modification application was submitted on 18th August to ANLA. The Company expects approval of this application in December. After civil works, it is expected to spud the well in Q1 2018". Probably the best presentation to look at, as suggested by Blackdown, is the March 2017 acquisitions and perhaps slide 9 is most illustrative of the layers across our blocks. That particular presentation was done when the company finally achieved continuity across multiple blocks and put together the data: a lot of the slides show the relationship between the zones, with area variations. | charlieeee
29/10/2017 09:55 | Have a look through some of the previous presentations. They include graphics showing the various strata. | blackdown2
28/10/2017 21:20 | Hi I've just read this from latest rns- "using Schlumberger logging-while-drilli Can anyone tell me what they mean by U sand? I also notice previous references to T and N sands? What are they. My understanding is that oil sands are hard to extract from and dont produce flowing oil without treatment? Please answer as I cantbfind reference anywhere and it's driving me nuts.... Thank you | lordyjordy1
27/10/2017 23:35 | -----> also Boris, the other thing that is of concern to many of us old timers here is that, whilst we're trading at c 20p per share there is a serious danger of a below the belt hostile bid. | westmoreland lad
27/10/2017 23:03 | best be early doors Monday then Boris ---------> The $60 threshold is one that oil producing nations and bullish investors have been eyeing all year. They've often been frustrated: despite production cuts by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and other major exporters, rallies have been fleeting. But the outlook has shifted in recent weeks, with oil prices posting weekly gains three weeks in a row. Brent prices rose 4.66% this week and West Texas Intermediate, the U.S. benchmark, rose 3.97%. "It's been a slow train coming," said Mark Benigno, co-director of energy trading at INTL FCStone, but investors have come around to the idea that OPEC's efforts are paying off. "People wrote off the story like, 'forget OPEC.' But it's happening the way they were hoping it would," Mr. Benigno said. | westmoreland lad
27/10/2017 21:14 | Well west tex pinged $54 bbl earlier and the oil e&p etf put in a major reversal confirmation climbing over 3%. Looks like it'll test the 200dma there next week. Any producing oil co with very little or no debt should be at the forefront of a sector revival. I may have to take at least a first tranche early next week. Gl | boris cobaka
