24/7/2019 16:16 | Agreed a very good view. I was saying ages ago rather than sit on the cash at least start a few buy backs | juuunx2
24/7/2019 16:03 | With the current offer hovering around £200m and having around £50m (in the bank - most of which that can be used freely), wouldn't it be a good idea now for AMER to buy back some of its own shares? If we succumb to a takeover, which is highly likely, the winning bidder will get our £50m in the bank. So, whatever price the bidder pays, some of it will be recouped immediately. With the share price hovering at 18p, after rising 50% from the depressed 12p it was trading just a week ago, no bidder will pay what we are really worth (close to 38p)! I am afraid that as things stand, our takeout price is going to be in the mid or high twenties - still a significant discount to what we are actually worth. If AMER spends just £20-25m of its cash, it can easily take off the market around 100m shares. I guess that would get our share price to the mid to high twenties on its own. At that stage, getting offers in the thirties would make more sense for everyone involved - both for AMER shareholders and the bidders themselves. Otherwise, how can bidders justify bidding 35p for shares that just a week ago were trading at 12p?! | sji

24/7/2019 15:45 | A comment from IC not long ago... Amerisur sure of sale Oil and gas explorer/producer Amerisur Resources (AMER) put itself up for sale after receiving a non-binding offer last week, and showed its confidence by immediately shutting down a bid. After kicking off the formal process, the company reported a 17p per share bid, or around £200m, by an arm of Indonesian state player Pertamina, Maurel & Prom. The 40-per-cent premium on the undisturbed share price of 12p was not enough for Amerisur’s board, who said it “materially undervalued” the company and its Colombian assets. Amerisur is now trading at the bid level of 17p, meaning its valuation has returned to a level last seen in January. Amerisur said other companies were also interested but only confirmed conversations had taken place as of Tuesday. Panmure Gordon analyst Colin Smith said Amerisur seemed to have a “significant degree of confidence” in a better offer, given its flat refusal of Maurel & Prom’s offer. At the end of May, the company was averaging 6,800 barrels of oil per day in production. Amerisur has also signed a farm-in agreement with Occidental Petroleum for four prospects in Colombia, in which the major will fund $93m | master rsi

24/7/2019 15:40 | ML. Ireland was good, thanks. I put a flowering plant into the grass verge where their ashes where scattered. On the exit of Ring Bridge - and a tin of Spam (if you knew Derek, you'll know!). Then I drove the rest, partly from modern speed pace notes, map and memory. It's amazing how much of it I remembered from doing it twice, 25 years ago, in late winter. Abergwesyn next .... coming? | tonyrelaxes
