30/9/2015 12:20 | Noticed that Optio has announced a partnership with a laptop producer AMD. The software will be added to each laptop they produce. Not difficult to see this as a nice revenue stream for a product that is not there major technology. Two of the companies that were highlight as worthless in the Kerrisdale have both released statements, either generating revenue, Optio or Federated Wireless going to the last stage of approval, expect large revenue early next year. This goes to underline how questionable the analysis has been. Can see why the record is so poor. Just to underline that Allied Minds has a strong future is the people that have been added to the board. The CEO was the CEO at Bristal Myes Briggs, not sure he would take a job unless he could see a bright future Remember none of the directors have made any substantial sales of there stock even when it was £7. This is a definite buy. | mishkam
29/9/2015 10:03 | I looked at Kerrisdale last set of reports, summary below. Company,Date of research, price, current price,%change Buy recommendations WBS 2 Mar, 35.06,34.09, 2% loss JGW 4 Feb, 9.91,4.91, 51% loss LNN 23 Oct 76.73, 67.26, 12% loss Sell recommendations BVNRY 321,268, 16% profit GSTAT 3.01,1.53, 49% profit CATM 28.53,32.5 14% loss ezchip market cap $693m, takever $2.7bn, loss 289% Allied minds has gone down due to Kerrisdale ability to drive price down. The analysis done on the last recommendations meant a 300% loss. In fact a sell Kerrisdale recommendation is almost like a buy, The analysis they have done is inaccurate and is likely to lead to a takeover which will mean a substantial uptick. Buy. | mishkam
29/9/2015 09:49 | hxxps://woodfordfund how amusing that Woodford selected ALM LN in his rugby fantasy English selection. In a bitter twist of fate ALM will go the same way as the World Cup hosts: too much hype, too much style over substance, clearly overvalued, before the turnament everyone thought they would reach the finals without even having to sweat and show their true worth; in the end, both team and stock pick are most likely to achieve a quick exit and create a big disappointment. | chevalierdaven
29/9/2015 09:28 | I thought that Allied Minds had signed a contract with one of the worlds biggest technology storage suppliers. No large company is going to sign a deal unless the it agrees with the companies claims of it being 10 times faster using 10% power of another memory chip. Although ALM own 45% of stock this will be worth a lot of money. US government is pushing increase spectrum available. Federated wireless is the only technology that enables this given that it was developed by military. The pilot will be completed early next year and given that it a joint venture with google and been heavily tested by them I think that it is likely to succeed. This has the potential to be worth a lot of money. This stock is heavily discounted now because of some misleading analysis by a company that has a large short position that it will have to unwind. Buy. | mishkam

26/9/2015 00:27 | Interesting situation here. Extraordinary share price fall. I think its probably a buy at this price. However, I'm sitting on my hands to see if it falls further. The key, I think, is Woodford. If he sells, we're in trouble. As far as I can see he's not selling. This is a high-risk speculative investment - it always has been. | skinwalker
25/9/2015 16:04 | Since these highly valued unlisted companies are still worth over a billion bucks Does this mean this collection of little baby foal unicorns be defined as a... wait for it.... Unicorn Mare Enough to make you barf rainbows. (This is to help with the Tinnitus) | liquidkid

24/9/2015 12:11 | The other great investor with a superb long term record is James Anderson who runs Scottish Mortgage. He buys "stories" rather than valuations and is very long on things like Tesla that many of us would regard as insanely overvalued. ALM strikes me as a prime example of that type of investment - you buy the idea and don't even consider the fundamentals. Problem is, you are always relying on selling out to someone who shares that approach to investing, and there are generally lots of them around when markets are bullish and very few when things turn bearish. | mad foetus
24/9/2015 11:59 | pretty weak counter if you ask me. | dasv

24/9/2015 11:47 | Hopefully most PI's are in positions where they can still exit in profit, if they wish, many may have already locked in gains here. Woodford has a fantastic record, disagreed with his view on RR. and Drax, he is an exceptional investor but is human. | essentialinvestor
24/9/2015 11:26 | That's another person who is completely wrong on this with a capital "W" for WRONG and that is Woodford himself. An income fund is a type of asset allocation fund. Income funds are often assumed to be bond funds, but they may be stock funds instead, more accurately called equity income funds. Typically these hold stocks with a good history of paying dividends. Why Allied Minds should even be in Woodford's fund in the first place? Heads need to roll on this one e.g. The compliance officer, The risk officer, The CIO, The IR officer After that a bit of Harakiri from the anyone who is in this for the "entertainment and engagement" Ancient proverb "Only when you see the contents of ones stomach can you see what one has been eating." Anyone left after that with snouts still in the trough should go AWOL (that's a military term) After all it is only other peoples money eh but WTFDIC | liquidkid
24/9/2015 11:03 | This was helpful to Woodford's income fund outperformance during 2014 in to this year, with the major price appreciation. Still up YTD and 55% over 12 months. | essentialinvestor
24/9/2015 10:58 | It's been a nice short since 690 (3x trades) but I should have gone bigger. I still have this AFR short on my IG account which requires 100% margin so I'm jumpy about taking on more positions of size. | dasv
24/9/2015 10:57 | hpcg - PM on alphaville started marketslive with ALM on this topic. Says he had a long call with Kerrisdale guy. Says Kerrisdale guy claimed PM had "hurt his feelings" by disagreeing. PM claims Kerrisdale doesn't understand ALM tech - e.g. military spectrum for their comms tech. However he didn't comment on either 1. factual accuracy of lack of business success of any ideas 2. the details of any other techs (e.g. their non-uniqueness) 3. the comments re: valuation 4. the cash position and burn rate (which is fairly rapid). He argues Kerrisdale were deramping. I argued PM was ramping but BE said no because neither PM or BE has a position in ALM. I'm finding it hard to believe someone as bullish on ALM as PM has no position. | dasv
