EGS says it's dropping the Swiss unit and focusing on UK ops while in the process of selling other Euro units. Says lending banks are still supporting it and continuing to provide funding... might be a tonic for the share price?

goforit - I've been watching these last couple of weeks too. It seems like it can easily go in a 30p range (was 970-1000, now maybe 990-1020?). But there may be something behind this rise so watching my short carefully and looking to go long if it gets back to £10. I have major resistance sitting at about 1030-1035...

Long Barc 2134 overdone on interest rate jitters, as long as no change that is! Manufacturing on its knees, oil prices rising - must be no change.

moonblue; looks as sick as a parrot currently having fallen off 440 and 410 rapido. No investment advice but I am looking more short side than long till a break up( looks more £3 than £4)

morning all

anl been watching for a few weeks.presume we are going into a new trading range,990/10 support, top? will it break the downtrend line from last june(about 1030 on my chart).
byrdsong re bid was surprised by lack of strength coming up to div payout,would have thought a buyer would have been interested in the div(or dont banks think like that)as presume a minimum price would have to be pitched way above these levels

bp 2 year chart. looks like it could be a longer term short to me if it cant break the current highs. interested in other views

Ruth, Royce - I reckon ANL and BARC are two very different animals and would not really compare a mortgage bank with a real bank, many different factors.Having said allthat ANL is always going to be a bid target.BTW Ruth,don't forget we're all barking mad or we wouldn't be here at all.

ruth re post 59. nobody knows whats going to happen with the mkts full stop. no analysts, no fund managers, no one on this board. the only thing that matters is your opinion and edge. if your system says trade, then trade and ignore other influences, as after all your trade can only go for you, or against you, so as long as u have a sensible stop, u wont come to much harm if the trade goes against you.

jackrussel - that question has been turning in my head for weeks. Reversed to go long on the break of 620 and saw a peak at 630 intraday, but it's not been overly impressive since. TA-wise pretty much a double doji before today and if this drop sticks today, my mind is to turn negative again.

Overall, the statement probably doesn't justify being this close to the top of the price range. Anyone else?

BP. statement looks very bearish, low jet fuel sales, refining margins down, "worst since 1992" in there somewhere.

Chart support at 610, big buys coming in at that level... hmmm
So, is it all in in the price ??

why use spread firms to trade the dow/ftse when you can use direct access and trade the real futures.

Initial reaction to BP. statment says it all. A quick look through and it is not overly upbeat to me. After the intial drop there appear to be some buyers, but overall bearish in my view. Any others?
